College Prowler Take
Valpo has been updating the campus over the last few years with some really nice additions, including the library, union, and fitness center. The library is a great addition to campus. It brings a state-of-the-art facility to a campus that is trying to move forward and expand. The Harre Union opened in 2009 and has a games and recreation center, meeting rooms, lounges, a computer lab, and a ballroom that hosts numerous events. The ARC, while nice in size, is usually overrun with athletic teams and their practices. However, the recent addition of the fitness center offers a wide range of options for non-varsity athletes. It is state-of-the-art with a cardio area that has 25 machines, a weight-training area, and aerobics equipment. There are also fitness classes available.

Facilities Need Improvement
C-
While the facilities at VU are sufficient, the lack of modernity can inhibit higher degrees of learning. The newest buildings - Union, Library, Kallay-Christopher - are excellent buildings that serve their purposes well. However, the majority of other buildings severely lack in their abilities to teach at the highest degree.

Library is so nice
A+
I absolutely love the library. I appreciate the quiet floors, but also that there is a space for talking and fun. I love Grinders, and the windows are just fantastic. In the nice weather, my friends and I sit out on the terrace and it's just great.

Harre Union
A
The new union is great, but there should still be more food options and places to eat around campus.

New Library and Union, Beautiful Chapel
A
The major buildings on campus (library, union, chapel, VUCA) are beautiful. Dorms are okay and most academic buildings are older, but they still have character beauty. The ARC has horrible hours, but with the new rec center it might be better.

Things are being updated
B+
The buildings are pretty old and outdated, but they offer a sort of old-fashioned charm to the campus. The university is also working on updating everything.

Favorite Things To Do
Valpo has a wealth of activities and events to attend. The VUCA (Center for the Arts) is home to plays, concerts, recitals, and lectures, as well as the University’s Brauer Museum of Art. The Brauer Museum is home to many modern American artworks including pieces by Georgia O’Keefe. Recitals and concerts of various campus music ensembles and groups also take place in the Chapel of the Resurrection. Various lectures, debates, and the Christ College Symposium Series take place in the Mueller Hall Refectory. Lectures and films are conducted in the Neils Science Center auditorium. Poetry slams and book discussions, as well as small concerts, often pop up in the Round Table at the Union. In addition, departmental or special-interest lectures often take place in the academic buildings around campus, as well as in the Lumina Room of Huegli Hall. Athletic events take place in the ARC (Athletics Recreation Center), Brown Field (football field), the new softball diamond, Eastgate (soccer field), and the Emory Bauer Baseball Field.
You can play late-night bingo at the Union, attend recitals held by friends in the music department, go to a VU basketball game and sit in the student section, hang out in the library, or enjoy a coffee from the café, Grinders.
