They do not offer as much of a variety in classes and times like I'd hoped

Professors were helpful. Offered a lot of great tutoring.

I'm not sure I don't know anyone that has been in this program

Again their technology wasn't the best. The computers were always messing up in the classroom when the teachers would try to use them.

The teachers were very helpful the entire time I was at the school, they always made time to help out the students and they actually seemed to care about how students were doing in their classes.

Well Vance Granville is a community college so I didn't really work on my specific major I just worked on my associate degree, but academic wise the school was wonderful, everything was perfect about the school but the technology. The teachers took the time out to help the students and they never gave too much work nor too little.

Teachers were wonderful, the technology was horrible. In almost every one of my classes there were computer issues, some of my instructors had to bring in their own computers just because the computers that the school provided were not good at all.

The is a small grill in the center of campus and several vending machines placed in the buildings. The administration allows for $20 of printer paper to be used ( its included in tuition) before they start charging per page. There is a medium sized computer lab plus a few pcs in the library.

British Literature/Online; The first day of online class you need to log into Moodle (VGCCs online software) and do an Ice Breaker forum post to be counted in attendance; you have only so many days to do so or you are counted a NO-Show. Most teachers at VGCC put up a virtual copy of their syllabus and give a short quiz to make sure you've actually read it.
It will take a few days to get the schedule of assignments/due dates/forum posts down. In British Literature the assignments are heavily reading based with essays after each assignment. The test were not timed as they were all text based answers. You really couldn't get the essay or the text wrong as long as you worked to prove your personal point of view. I considered this an easy class.

This school is close to home and job. I never planned on coming to a community college, but financial circumstances made me change my mind. I am able to take control of my schedule and determine what classes I want and when I want them.

I wish there was more student involvement and activities for not only students but teacher to participate in. Teachers here are very helpful and there are a variety of tools around to help students. As far as up-to-date technology, the school really tries its best to help everyone in anyway it can. The problem I have with the system, is that there is no such thing as paper anymore. All assignments are done online and is there is a system crash, well you just lost your work.

The Criminal Program and Nursing programs are great.

The library is great. The other resources I don't really use.

A few of the Guidance Counselors aren't very helpful or as knowledgeable as they should be and it makes it difficult to make major decisions.

The computer network is a little on the slow side if we have alot of pupils on the server at one time sometimes during finals you run in to the most difficulty because of the high volume of online test, this could be nerve racking during the end of a semester with a test that is weighed heavily.

The reason I chose this school is because it offered different avenues at a more reasonable price for a lower middle class family. I wanted to continue my education while being able to be there for my family. I work a part time job and also attend school so I would say the flexibility of theis college is great.

The facilities on the campus I attended was good enough to get your work done but as far as extra cirricular activities it fell short, the students have plenty of computer labs to complete online assignments and also to research but no athletics.

The instructors at my school would work with students in cases of emergencies, leaving your phone on for expected phone calls, or students arriving to class late due to work schedules, child care, etc. Students are awarded for there academic successes through scholarships, honor society, and public recognition. The facilities are very attractive and everyone that I encountered in administration were helpful, informative, and guided me through all the processes needed to make my stay at Vance-Granville Community College an enjoyable experience.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The education I received at Vance-Granville Community College was impeccable and worth the money spent. I got no financial aid assistance my first couple semesters, but the money I spent was well worth my education. The last couple of semesters I received full financial aid that helped me out a great deal, if I didn't receive the assistance I would not have been able to obtain my Associate of Arts degree this past fall semester. I had great financial aid officers that guided me through the process, but I had to check my email and provide all the documents that were needed to make the process go smooth and accurately. The only thing I wish is that the school were able to provide financial aid to more students.

I heard great things about the post-grad services at Vance-Granville, but I have never used the services because I achieved a degree that will allow me to transfer to a four year university.

I'm not sure about after graduate because I'm barely a freshmen.

I honestly love my major. I love the classes I'm taking. They seem interesting and always make me want to go back and learn more. Not including my English class all my other major classes are fun, interactive and the professors are great!
College Senior 2012-12-01T13:48:49Z
I would like some professors to be more reasonable in class. Although most of mine this semester were good, some of them still have rules that don't make any sense.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
It took a while to get all the forms straight needed for financial aid. It seemed like the last thing I was still trying to get done and cramming for was applying for financial aid. However, I did get financial aid which helped out a lot. I did not have to spend a penny this semester and I'm hoping I won't the following ones either.

I am not quite sure about my school's post grad services since I have not graduated with my degree yet.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
