Definitely a Walking Campus – Tennessee's public transportation system is pretty lacking. There are MTA buses, so if you don't have a car, you do have that option. Vandy also started renting Zip Cars.
The Vandy Vans don't start running until 4pm, so don't expect to catch a ride to class. Everyone (and I mean everyone) walks here. The campus isn't huge, but you may want to get a bike or skateboard if you have classes on the opposite ends of campus (or two different "campuses").

Great and Getting Better! Vandy's facilities are absolutely wonderful and they are getting better! They are currently in the process of building an indoor football practice field and indoor track. It will take the place of the Recreation Center and all students are allowed to use it.

Nashville's weather is the craziest weather I have ever seen. One day it is sunny and warm, the next it is snowing. Also, be prepared for snow! It snows here and it gets VERY cold. But other than that, the weather isn't all that bad.

Dining Is OK – Dining around Vandy is pretty standard. You have Chili's and TGI Friday's, which are the standard dining spots. But you also have many more restaurants that offer ethnic cuisine.

Nashville Is Great! Vanderbilt is located in the heart of downtown Nashville, so there is so much to do not only around campus, but also on campus as well! If you want to attend a football game, the school is located down the street from the Titans' Stadium. Also, pretty much every big concert is held right on campus.

Fine, Nothing Special – There aren't that many options for dining at Vandy, although if you get creative, you can stay pretty satisfied. The best places in my opinion are the Commons Dining Hall, which has several different choices from a salad bar to Chinese food, and Chef James, which has a different hot entree each day. Although healthy eating isn't the easiest, with a little bit of effort and planning, it's definitely possible. I recommend trying to live off campus, that way you can avoid the meal plan altogether and eat what you want!

Don't Get Caught – It is easy to skate by all 4 years without getting in trouble for breaking any rules at Vanderbilt, though rules are broken all the time. Fraternity hazing happens every year, despite lectures, promises, and stricter rules enforcing severe consequences. However, it continues to occur. Fraternities face strict punishments when they are caught, which has led to several fraternities getting kicked off campus in the recent years, changing the social and Greek dynamic of the campus.

Guys & Girls:
Good Looking and Preppy. You'll find a lot of different people at Vandy but the majority of girls and guys are preppy and good-looking. We get a lot of northern people and they definitely bring their style down here. Expect Sperry's, sunddresses, pastel polos, and cowboy boots. Despite the "Vandy Girl" stereotype, girls are smart and the fratty boys are smart too. All are friendly!

Research Is Mainly It – Research opportuinties are everywhre on campus. I've done it for a year.

Pretty Easy to Get Into – The application process is very straightforward- basically meet with a potential advisor, who is genearlly more than happy to talk things over with you. Vandy does a good job reminding you of when things are due

So Many Options and Combos – You can do whateaver you want. Im very ahppy with my program, and i have lots of career options to explore. Not many concerns other than my own fault (lowish GPA)

Health & Safety:
As Safe as Could Be...Inside – Vandy police do an incredible job and keep us feeling safe. Once you step out into nashville, though, you can get in some trouble

Philosphy and Neuroscience – They do a great job of offering a diverse array of courses in their liberal arts approach to undergrad education.

My overall experience has been amazing. I love Vanderbilt so much and I would never want to go anywhere else.

Greek life is awesome on Vanderbilt's campus. You definitely want to be involved in it. It's something that the majority of people do.

The weather here is beautiful, but you'll need to like it warm. It tends to get humid and rains decently often. Also, if you like snow, Nashville is not the place for you: we get ice.

Belmont Kids Are Jealous – The places on-campus are decent, but you have to remember that you are in the south. There's a good chance you'll get a little tired of attempts at biscuits and gravy. The best options as far as variety and taste are the Commons (where all freshmen live), Grins (the only certified Kosher restaurant in middle Tennessee. It's also vegetarian and has fantastic pastries.), and Nectar (the only completely organic place on-campus).
The great thing about the way Vandy's meal plan is set up is that they offer something called Taste of Nashville, which gives students the option to use their meal money at off-campus restaurants, such as Chili's, Qdoba, TGIFriday's, and many more.

Off campus is expensive! On campus is definitely the way to go.

Housing is always being improved, and the options available are good for the most part. However, the university is definitely investing a lot of money into building better upperclassmen housing, so if you're graduating high school in 2013 or later, you're in great shape.

Human and Organizational Development – Fantastic for job opportunities. You can take HOD anywhere and do anything, but that flexibility can make finding your passion for a job difficult. Students get incredible internships through HOD and are paid more than any other major at Vanderbilt after graduation. HOD teaches you to find your own internships, but also provides some help in your search.

The entire world's weather is going crazy because of global warming. This winter was much less harsh than the past three years, but Nashville will still fluctuate 25 degrees in a day. Spring is beautiful (awful allergies and a good amount of rain), summer is HOT and SWEATY, fall is wonderful, and winter can get cold (rarely snows).

Mostly Greeks, but Lots of Gdis! Greek life is a large part of campus that both Greeks and non-Greeks are somewhat involved. There are lots of student organizations, and other social outlets aside from Greek life.

Everyone is Greek. Frats let in anyone who knows 2 or more brothers.
College Junior 2012-02-06T13:17:48Z
Campus (Lack of)Strictness – The campus police are not very strict at all. Underage students go to the hospital for alcohol poisoning and get a slap on the wrist. The cops see drunken kids stumbling over campus all the time, the only time they normally intervene is if they think the person is drunk to the point of harming themselves. They're there to help not to punish.
College Junior 2012-02-06T13:14:10Z
Off campus dining is awesome. There's a lot of chain restaurants within walking distance of campus and a decent amount of local ones as well. Many of them participate in Taste of Nashville and can be paid for on the Commodore Card.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
