There's something to do almost every night with the biggest nights being Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, (sometimes wednesdays depending on your scene). Very inclusive and tons of fun. Mostly frat parties but thursdays revolve around the bar scene (sometimes saturday nights on broadway), and there aretons of bars in nashville.

Freshman housing is among the best in the country as you basically live in a spacious hotel, but as the years progress housing gets worse. Most sophomores live in Branscomb right now and everyone else either lives in the mayfields or towers or off campus until new kissam opens and then everyone will want to live there. Depending on how that looks, housing for upperclassmen might be better.

Personally, I decided to participate in Greek Life and i love it but if you choose not to, you won't lose friends because of it, and if you do, it's probably weird people anyway who are trying to prove to themselves that they're awesome. It's a little harder for guys to find their place and a lot more determinate of their social lives, but as far as girls are concerned that are planning to go through recruitment, they will for sure find a place and girls that they love unless they do something really stupid to mess it up. fraternity parties are pretty much the gut of the social scene at vandy but for girls, even if you aren't greek you can totally take part. greeks throw events all the time and are really involved in community service. i'm not non-greek so i don't really know what they think about us but i think everyone realizes that everyone has a place where they fit in and everyone can make that decision on their own without being judged. only 6 people live in each house and they're all officers which is cool because even if your friends aren't in the same organization as you, you can still live together and see them all the time.

Health & Safety:
the police do a great job and everything but lately we've had a few weird occurances that have been kept under wraps such as buglaries and a few armed robberies that occur at night, but those are easy to avoid if you're smart and you don't walk on the outskirts of campus by yourself at night. also, the student health center knows what they're talking about but they take forever and making appointments is kind of a hassle. however, there IS a hospital in the middle of campus.

All of our teams are getting a lot better, and because our school community is so close it's hard not to support the kids that play on the teams because they're your friends outside of the classroom too. We have sooo much school spirit it's kind of scary sometimes, and if game attendance is low, it's probably because we all just tailgated too hard before it and are at some bar somewhere watching it on TV, too tired to keep standing after dancing on elevated surfaces for four hours. Also, we have a really athletic student body so the facilities are used often by everyone. The rec has great machines, and especially for girls, there's a gym above commons that is referred to as the "Estrogym" as it's full of treadmills, stationary bikes, and ellipticals.

Especially as a freshman, the walking-distance Hillsboro Village is full of really yummy places such as Fido (taylor swift's favorite, i also see the Nashville stars there all the time), Zumi (best sushi ever), Cabana (holy yum), Jacksons, Frugals (nashville neccessity) and so many more cute little places. We also have bagels and satco and like bricktops and pf changs and PM and like literally everything you can think of and it's all super easy to get to and super delicious, and more often then not, places to eat, even off campus, is on "the card," an infamous piece of plastic that works as a credit card that webasically just treat as monopoly money- (until your parents get the first bill).

Vanderbilt is the best place on the planet but I think that it really is meant for a certain type of person. Vanderbilt is characterized by a "work hard play hard" motto which has literally summed up my experience here thus far. Monday-thursday I don't get much sleep and I pretty much spend all of my time in class, doing homework, or participating in the many extracurriculars that everyone here is involved in, and it's all intriguing and stimulating and interesting. But very hard. Then, thursday night happens and for the next three days no one gives their homework a second thought. It's all the fun of a huge party school with all of the rigor and academic achievement of a top 20 school. It's a perfect balance.

Vanderbilt usually is known for giving out incredibly generous financial aid

Guys & Girls:
The girls are usually friendly? I don't know. Most everyone is friendly
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:43:51Z
I think I like it more everyday. The academics and opportunities and friendly atmosphere are really nice to be around.

Housing gets worse as you get older, which is disappointing. But generally housing isn't so bad.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:42:21Z
I don't have a car because first-years cannot bring one so I'm not familiar with the whole system but I hear it's difficult to deal with
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:41:31Z
We're not the best but we do have a lot of school pride here
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:40:56Z
Generally speaking it's a really beautiful and well kept campus
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:39:59Z
Technology is generally fine here; although we don't use it in the classroom very much which is disappointing.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:38:58Z
Nashville's awesome. It is hard to get around though.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:38:16Z
It's definitely a big thing here. Only chapter officials live in the houses - but they're nice.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:37:14Z
It gets a little repetitive but i think it's a lot better than what they have at other schools
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:36:21Z
The workload is challenging and the professors are passionate. Getting into classes is sometimes difficult
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:36:20Z
Lots of opportunities for internships and research. You have to put in the effort if you want the action though.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:34:13Z
Lots of options but difficult to get to because Vanderbilt deters students from having a car.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T02:33:15Z
Most kids are white, upper class, heterosexual, and conservative.

I am not part of Greek life but I definitely do not feel excluded. Many of my friends take part in it, and I still hangout with them as much as I do with my friends who are not in Greek life.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
