- Vanderbilt’s name alone will help you out a huge amount in the Southeast, but is not quite as impressive elsewhere. If you want to get a job or internship for the summer, make sure you get started early. Go to the career center, and they’ll set you up with a good job so that you’re not struggling to get a summer job when you go home. Don’t spend too much time worrying about a job. As long as you’re not a Human and Organizational Development major, the strength of your degree will open up a lot of doors. A place like the Career Center realizes the difficulties and pressures that students are facing and does a good job of settling your fears and helping you go in the right direction. And even if that doesn’t work out, most people change careers two or three times in their life, right?
