College Prowler Take

There are a large number of good restaurants in close proximity to Vanderbilt. Maybe it has something to do with the zoning of the city, but it seems like Vanderbilt lies in a very highly concentrated restaurant area of Nashville. In every style and price range, you will find something within walking distance or a short cab ride.

The selection certainly exists in the city; it is only a question of the depth. There aren’t dozens of excellent places to eat for every genre of food, but excellent places do exist. This means that it is very important to make reservations, or you will find yourself standing in line holding one of those silly pagers.

There’s Pizza Perfect, which has the closest thing to a New York pizza. They also serve good Italian. There are a lot of pretty expensive, nice places to eat.

Big City Options

A+

There are so many places that you can walk to, and even more that you can drive to. And the variety is great. If you don't ever want to eat on campus, your not going to be disappointed by the off campus options. Vanderbilt is in a big city, we have big city options in a relatively close proximity to campus. However, we are in the south, so sometimes its more of a southern feel. Pancake Pantry has been featured on the travel channel, and its a great pancake place that always has a line out the door, and is walking distance. You can always spot a celebrity at the starbucks on 21st, or Fido, which is walking distance from campus, since Music Row is only one block from campus.

The restaurants off campus are not bad. I’m a big fan of the places on 21st Avenue. Primarily Easy’s and Boscos—incredible food and service.

The restaurants off campus are really good but expensive. I strongly recommend both Rotier’s and Bread & Company. I really wish there were more late night fast food places open around campus, but the current restaurant situation is fine.
