The Office of Traffic and Parking sees the students as a source of income. Parking is much more expensive than it should be, and they will not hesitate to write you a ticket or tow your car should you not be in the spot they assigned you. To add insult to injury, they will find a spot for your car in the garage that is geographically farthest away from where your dorm is.
The main thing to remember is that nobody is forcing you to bring a car, and at a school that is as self-contained as Vanderbilt, there is really no need for one. High parking rates are just part of the package if you decide to bring your car to school; there’s no way around it.

Typical Parking
Student parking is typical, in a parking garage with a specific spot and the prices are pretty good. There is plenty of parking areas surrounding campus as well so if you are a commuter you won't have a long walk to class.

Need for Car
There is absolutely no need for a car on campus. If you bring a car then you'll have to park pretty far away and won't even use it much.

Sucks the Big One
Freshman can't, sophomores might as well not, and upperclassmen have to pay an arm and a leg. If mommy and daddy are footing the bill it isn't bad. The good news is you don't really need it.

College Prowler guides are in the hands of students throughout the entire process. Because you can't make student-written guides without the students, we have students at each campus who write, edit, and survey their peers for every guide that we publish.
