College Prowler Take
When people think of the South, they assume that it is a beautiful and constantly sunny and comfortable climate. I’m not sure if it’s a propaganda move by the University, but every freshman seems to be under that impression. Judging weather is never a sure thing, however. One freshman student summed it up best in describing the weather as “totally menopausal but still better than any place up north.” It’s not out of the ordinary for one day to be sunny and 70 degrees, while news stations are forecasting snow later in the week.
Overall, the weather in Nashville is actually very good— there are noticeable seasons, but none of them are overly extreme or oppressive. Make sure to bring at least one warm winter coat for the short snow season. Also, be sure to bring a big umbrella—it rains cats and dogs here.

The weather is extremely hot from the end of August until the end of September. The fall, winter, and spring are great. I loved the weather in Nashville from October until April. It only snowed two or three times during my four years there. Nashville actually does get snow; it’s just usually in late December and early January, during Christmas vacation. You pretty much miss it. |

The weather is all right, I personally thought coming to the southeastern states was going to be a little warmer in the winters, but Tennessee isn’t exactly the Deep South. |

There’s just enough snow so that you feel like it’s winter and you can go out and enjoy it, but not enough that it makes you cold and depressed. |
