Birth Control Available?
Yes
The Women's Center provides many forms of birth control at a discounted price for students once they have been examined by a physician in the Women's Center. Emergency Contraceptive (the morning-after pill) is also available. CHOICE, a student-run organization that promotes safer sex, offers free safe sex supplies including condoms, dental dams, lubricant, and latex gloves; students can even sign up with CHOICE to have these items delivered to their personal mailboxes. Free condoms and safe-sex supplies also are posted in envelopes on most dorm hallways by CHOICE and AIDS Education members, as well as by Student Fellows.

Social Scene
Students at Vassar, on the whole, are unbelievably friendly. Some are more charismatic and outgoing than others, but the all-campus nature of much of the social life, as well as the fact that Vassar can feel exceptionally small at times, tends to make even the most introverted types eager to meet new faces. Social hierarchies are pretty nonexistent; there are no assigned groups, and people move from circle to circle. After sophomore year, students tend to have a more solid group of people who they spend their time with, but students continue to make new friends everyday, whether through classes, student–run groups, or just waiting in line to get coffee.
Hookups or Relationships?
It is extremely easy to hook up at Vassar, though finding a relationship is a bit more difficult. The girl/guy split gives guys a slight advantage at having their pick of available women, but girls seem to have fun with the casual dating scene, too.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Relationships often begin through friends, extracurricular activities, or at parties. Classes, depending on the ratio of guys to girls in your major, can be a good way to find the people who you make it your business to bump into outside of class. Students also tend to date their hallmates, a.k.a. "commit hallcest," a mistake few do more than once, but many do at least once. If all else fails and you are looking for a quick fix, hit up Town Houses-you are guaranteed to take someone home.
Dress Code
You could say that as long as you're not naked at Vassar, pretty much anything goes in terms of clothing. But that might be a little restrictive, so the unwritten rule at Vassar is that it is a clothing-optional campus. Of course, the topless sunbathers, the drunk boy sheathed only in a sock at a party, the students who go barefoot to class, or the nude bicyclists and fire-throwers entertaining crowds on the quad are not met everyday, and they don't go unnoticed. But like most things at Vassar, the freedom is there for students to express themselves in whatever way they dress or don't dress. Some students do put some effort into what they wear, whether it is to look clean cut, highly fashionable, or as dirty as possible. But the majority of students dress in the way in which they are most comfortable and somehow end up looking well put together. To go out, most people get dressed up. Many girls will wear designer clothing and stiletto heels downtown. Skimpy little skirts and dresses are always popular. Guys get dressed up too, but in more of an Abercrombie sort of way.
