Tuition & Financial Aid:
The financial aid process went by so easily. I do not have to start paying on anything until after 2 months after I graduate.

My school is amazing, especially when it comes to finances. Yes you do have to pay if you don;t have scholarships but it's nothing like going to a four year collage. The financial department helps you find the best financial plan based on your needs, and they walk you through step by step to better help you understand, it makes all the difference.

Though I haven't met many of the student body, just by looking at them I could tell that they were very hard working people. Many of them have other obligations whether it be their children, family, or their pets that they didn't spare much time for making friends.

Vet Tech does so much to make their students feel at home.
We get to literally grow with the animals as we progress into getting out degree. Not only do you graduate as a Vet tech, you also graduate with your associates degree. I am absolutely in love with the placement program they offer. They offer to help you find a job into the field you want when you graduate. They'll even help you find a job while you're still in school.

The whole institute focuses on animal science and all the classes are career based. I love it! All subjects, including the math and language arts are related to my career.

There isn't much diversity because it's downtown. Mostly caucasian. Besides that everyone is great. Everyone is there for the same reason and there's a lot of positive energy.

We don't have athletics because it's an institute but the student centers are great. The campus activities are fun and creative. We take field trips to learn more about our field, and everything is very hands on.

What I love about my school is that they try to make everyone connected. The students all connect and build relationships. And the program of saving ASPCA animals is very helpful to the community and the lives of the animals.

Within a couple of months at VTI you will most likely know what field you would like to go into with your RVT degree. On campus we have one staff member specifically placed to find students their 2 month externship, and then help them get employed either at that externship or at another location. Pretty much you just go up and tell her what field you're looking to making a career out of and she will find jobs and externships for you in that specific field.

The facilities are pretty nice, it is an older building so everything isn't very up to date. I do love that we have these little rooms we call fishbowls, which has a sliding glass door with a desk and some chairs inside the room. This is where on our down time we are allowed to bring in one of the pets with us and study or eat lunch. It's just a fun and unique way for studying to get done, but it also keeps it private. I love getting the opportunity to socialized with the different dogs and cats we have at vet tech, you get to bond with them while taking care of them. Everyday we walk, feed and groom the dogs and cats it's a very stress relieving activity we have on campus.

Vet Tech Institute of Houston has some of the greatest and most welcoming staff you will ever meet. We even have a woman who works there that is dedicated to making the experience for the students at the school the best it can be. If one of our professors gives us too much homework at one time, she is the one who will go up and talk it out with the professor to give us more time to compete it. It's wonderful to have a a staff member who is there to meet the needs of students, it lets you know you're not alone and there always someone there to help you. I also love the fact that everything is so hands on and the classes are not very big so there's more one on one time.

The school is a hands on and I really like working with animals and I feel like the more I do hands on the more I learn. I like how they will work around my schedule I never would have problems to go to work in school.

We have animals on campus! It is so great to be able to have hands-on access to them so enrich our learning and really get the feel for the job.
College Senior 2013-07-16T16:07:20Z
On campus we have lots of resources as far as the library goes and all access to our animals as well.
College Senior 2013-07-16T16:06:19Z
We do not have any online courses at this program.

Printing is never an issue. There are several available printers on campus and the network is useful as well. You have your own account and anything you keep saved can be accessed on any of the computers. It's pretty convenient. If I need to bring my own laptop, the wireless access is always there to connect me straight to the internet.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Tuition for an 18 month program is equivalent to that of any other 4 year program or university. Financial aid is available and the reps even provide the students with grants/scholarships/loan options that are very beneficial to the student. Some students are even able to bring in scholarships that cover their entire tuition!
College Senior 2013-03-14T19:02:47Z
The classes are made up with a variety of people who all love ANIMALS! Learning to care for Animals so to recieve the care they need to stay healthy and well. Most are young students out of HS but some of all ages attend. Great Students- very friendly and dedicated.

This school has an amazing instructor staff that is very dedicated to helping the students learn and succeed in their careers. The books they use for each class are very good and the tests are designed to ensure you are understanding the material. The workload is intense, at times, but allows you to practice and understand the cirriculum.
Recent Alumnus 2013-03-09T16:30:19Z
This is an accelerated program, therefore there isn't much room for flexibility. There is only so much time to cover the curriculum.
Recent Alumnus 2013-03-09T16:27:18Z
I would give the school an "A" if the wireless connection reached all parts of the school and the printers were better.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
