Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Villanova is a school that grows on you—for some it takes only until the end of orientation, for others it takes two semesters or more. Whatever the case, students get caught up in what it means to be a Villanovan and to be from the 'Nova nation. Villanova provides students with an excellent education, well enough to confidently put alumni head-to-head with Ivy grads and be successful. Outside of its rich academic tradition, the students at Villanova come to know and appreciate their fellow students, professors, and surrounding community.

Going to Villanova gives students a unique perspective on college life. Even with a lack of diversity and a party scene that doesn’t start to pick up until you are a junior, Villanova is a fun place to be. Villanova will not give you the typical college life of a wild youth, but regardless, it is a school that is exciting and full of good times. While that might not be what you are looking for, the students who do attend Villanova end up loving the school for everything it offers, from its basketball games and rich traditions, to its Catholic heritage and the full load of academics. It’s a school that you can grow into comfortably, and looking back in later years, are glad to call your home away from home.

Student Activities Are Abundant

The student center is just one example of how much there is available to Villanova students. Inside there are various lounges, including one with ping pong tables, pool tables, and plenty of couches and outlets for an excellent study break. Not to mention the food in the student center is quite good, ranging from BBQ ribs to coffee and muffins. There is also a movie rental store where students can rent all of the most current movies and TV shows along with everything one needs for the ideal movie experience. If that's not enough there are frequently new and classic movies shown in the Cinema as well as other performances. This is just the student center, there is a great deal more available on campus or off campus through our Campus Activities Team. Such as various plays and musicals on campus, midnight showings of the hottest new movies, shuttles that take students to the second largest mall in America (which is just a 15 minute drive away), as well as the great number of sports games held on and off campus.

Community

The community at Villanova is unparalleled, it is unlike any other college that I have been to. All the students and faculty make Villanova feel like more than just a college, everyone genuinely cares about the well being of each other.

Freshman Learning Communities

One really awesome aspect about being a freshman at Villanova is being able to take part in the various learning communities that are offered. It gives structure to the required Augustinian and Culture seminar. The extra commitment is minimal. You meet once a week for 75 minutes to discuss in a small group topics related to the theme of your learning community for a pass/fail credit. I met my best friends at Nova through my learning community and I think it should be required for all freshman.
