If there is one thing to be said about Villanova, it is that you will walk away with a solid education for a lifetime. The University attempts to provide each student with the best education, which is reflected through the dedication and knowledge of professors every time you enter the classroom. Granted, there are a few bad apples that have very little ambition to teach anything, but these professors are a rarity. Every professor is subject to a survey on the quality of their teaching, and Student Government provides an online forum to discuss teachers freely. Another added benefit is that there are no TAs teaching classes here. While this might not seem like much, there is nothing worse than seeing TAs only a few years older than you trying to teach material they learned just a few years ago themselves. Not having TAs allows professors to get better acquainted with each student and gives students the most knowledgeable person teaching. Plus, with the small class sizes, developing a positive working relationship with your professors is very easy and can be very helpful come test time. Overall, Villanova does a good job providing its students with competent professors who have a passion to be here and who are always willing to learn more or go beyond the books to help.

The teachers are generally very personable and caring, which in turn makes class enjoyable for me. There are, however, some teachers that are very boring who merely lecture. I find those classes very boring. |

All my teachers are great, and they definitely can convey the new material to students really well. The teachers are also very easy to access outside of class through their office hours, and in fact, they encourage you to drop by either for a simple question or the most complex. Being in commerce and finance, all the classes I have found are very interesting, as they show me different aspects of the business world. |

The teachers at Villanova are...
The teachers at Villanova are incredibly helpful. I have not had any that hasn’t been fully interested in making all of their students succeed. They often give out their home phone numbers, and they encourage students to visit them during office hours or be in touch through e-mail at any time. As a political science major, I’ve found that all of my professors have had hands-on world experience. All of them not only teach brilliantly in their area of expertise, but they’ve been in the real world gaining experience in these areas. |

The teachers I have had thus far...
The teachers I have had thus far are a mix. Some are wonderful, some are horrendous. Overall, the staff at Villanova is very intelligent. Often, what makes a teacher bad is his teaching style, not his lack of knowledge. As a student, you need to learn to be flexible with learning techniques and find what works for you. The classes offered at Villanova are interesting. At times, the core curriculum can seem overwhelming, but the well-rounded knowledge you walk away with is definitely worth it. What is fun about Villanova’s scheduling is you can take interesting classes that work to fulfill requirements. |
