College Prowler Take
College food, no matter where you go, is never close to a home-cooked meal. That’s always one of the reasons going home on breaks is that much better. That aside, Villanova has a decent selection of pretty edible food. All types of eating preferences are looked after, so whether you are vegetarian, vegan, or have religious eating restrictions, dining services offers options for you. Not to mention that if you are hungry, the three cafeterias have decent food—and as much as you can eat. Breakfast is always good, with a variety of eggs, sandwiches, omelets, pancakes, and fruit. It also helps that there are plenty of food specialty places around campus. The only problem with these, though, is that they tend to close early for a college campus and leave students in a position to get takeout or snack on something in their room. Overall, Villanova has a good taste in what is served. While students like to complain, it’s not all that bad.

People tend to like the Spit the best. The food is alright. Villanova puts a lot of money into making it good, and every month, they have some specialty night with interesting ethnic food. |

I like the Italian Kitchen the most, because of the variety of sandwiches I can get. Also, there are always salads available to go. I wish that there weren’t the same things everyday—burgers, chicken wings, and so on, but I expected that. |

All of the dining halls provide a wide array of options for what to eat. The Spit, Dougherty, and St. Mary’s are all buffet-style unlimited dining. The Belle Aire Terrace, the Italian Kitchen and the Corner Grill have take-out options that are based on how much food you get. There are two convenience markets on campus for a quick snack, and all of these places accept a meal plan. In addition, there are several coffee shops called Holy Grounds and an ice cream shop. |

The food is typical college dining hall food, but you get used to it. Some great spots to know would be Second Storey and the Connelly Center, since they both offer diverse foods. |
