College Prowler Take

Any student you ask will say he or she feels very secure on campus. With a strong presence by Public Safety and a campus in a safe neighborhood nestled in a quiet suburban area, there is little to worry about. There are hardly ever incidents even worth mentioning, and when they do come up, such as a fight or major theft, Public Safety usually deals with them quickly. Outside of that, the security policies for entering and exiting buildings are fairly lax, although the freshman dorms on South Campus tend to be strict when trying to enter the building after visitation hours. Generally, though, with a quick show of the WildCard, there shouldn’t be any problems. Laptops are the most common things to be stolen, but even this only happens on occasion.

Public Safety does come down heavy on student drinking, and they have been known to ask students to see what’s in duffel bags being carried around at night. For something like that, they are quick to fine you and take the disciplinary action the school requires, but for most other things, they tend not to have such a heavy hand. So, while they are strict on underage drinking, they do keep a safe atmosphere around campus and allow students to be pretty much worry free walking around late at night.

Security is always present on campus, and they are always available if there’s a problem. I always feel very safe while I’m walking on campus alone or even late at night.

Villanova is so safe it’s pathetic. Security is everywhere, and the surrounding area is the safest environment imaginable.

Villanova’s campus is very safe. I have never felt nervous or uneasy about walking back to my dorm late at night after a long night at the library. Everything is well lit. Public Safety can be considered to be too protective, especially in the signing-in of friends.

Public Safety officers seem to be crawling everywhere, whether this is for the good or the bad. I was at the girls’ lacrosse game today, and there were three different event staff people and two Public Safety officers.
