Tuition & Financial Aid:
The education and experience is worth the money. I recieved only a federal grant and now I am extremely worried about where the rest of the tuition will come from. I am at an age that a loan in the amount of the remainder of the tuition is NOT an option. It would be of great assistance if the financial aid officers could do more to help those in real financial difficulity as I also am unemployed at this time.

I am not taking any online courses.

My school offers a lot of classes to chose from. They also offer day and night classes
College Junior 2013-10-05T21:34:37Z
My school likes to go above and beyond to help the students with success. The advisors stay late, help you to your classes, and help with schedule changes.

I look and see hard working motivated students. My school consist of people with everyday life responsibilities but like me want to be able to start enjoying the part of providing for your families. I see people older and younger than me with such ambition on there faces its just so motivating.
College Junior 2013-09-17T22:35:38Z
The main reason I chose this school was because of how flexible the class scheduling was. I have a daughter so the fact that I can be with her during the day and then be at school while she is sleeping is a relief so I don't have to spend a lot of time away from her!
College Junior 2013-09-17T22:34:10Z
Online courses to me are harder then actually going to classes. I find it to be more time consuming.
College Junior 2013-09-17T22:30:08Z
Mostly, my school consists of hardworking people with full time jobs and/or families. They are quick to help anyone with need.

I have not started classes at this point. Everyone I have met at Virginia
College has been very helpful.

The unique highlights of Virginia College are the employees, professors, classes, everything. The classes are very hands on which give us the students an opportunity to experience what life after college will consist of. The employees at this school are always wanting to help and advise you to stay in school and try your best ! Everything is possible at VC!
College Junior 2013-08-30T01:26:23Z
In the short time I have been attending VC, the computer labs, printing on campus and network reliability have been solid. I have never had to deal with a slow speed computer at the campus. I have never had to pay for print outs either, which is very helpful for us college students!

The Virginia college Campus overall is a wonderful educational institution. From your way in the door to your classes, everyone is so helpful and supporting. There is always someone to assist you with any questions. There are always computers available to utilize for any school related reasons. The student center is filled with individuals who want to help you and cheer you on, on your journey to becoming a professional!

The computers are always running and everyone is allowed to use them at any time. Print, fax, scan and copies are all included in tuition and it's saving me money from spending hundreds at Wal-Mart on ink.

Most of the students have jobs outside of school and life with school and work can be very hard to manage. Being a semi-new student and this location, it's a blessing we all can come together in one place and everyone get along.

I’m a Networking Engineering major and I am enjoying all of my classes here. My IT class isn’t what I expected and that is a good thing. This class is very detailed, and helps me learn a lot of valuable information I didn’t know. My classes do contain a lot of work but I know that I can handle it all and continue to pass this class with an A.
College Senior 2013-05-16T17:11:41Z
They guarantee to find me work after graduation and it's naturally making me keep good grades and study.

The surgical technology program is intense and at times overwhelming but very rewarding. It is easy to take pride in the career you are pursuing because you are confident you will graduate as a experenced and skilled member of your field of study. The workload is average in comparison to other colleges with the exception that the college is conducted in terms rather than semesters, which means you cover the same amount of material in 11 weeks rather than a full semester. This allows for students to complete 12 classes per year (48 credit hours) if taking 3 classes each term. The facilities on campus for the ST department include a large surgery lab with scrub sink and utility closet so that students can simulate the daily task they will complete once graduating into their career. Externship at the end of the program gives students a chance to assist in several cases (surgeries) prior to graduating. Generally students are offered a position at the cite that they did their externship at which eliminates the hassel of finding a job after graduating.

In the various allied health programs the curriculum typically includes field trips to visit sites and observe individuals in those career fields which really enhances the learning experience and lets students know early on if they want to continue in the program for that career. The surgical technologist department has a surgery lab to practice hands on in the career that they are pursuing (scrubbing, gowning/gloving, practice on mannequin, ect.). The medical assisting program also has mannequin to practice drawing blood as well as skeletons to identify bones and mannequins to identify organs inside the body cavity. The cosmetology department runs a salon on campus so that students can obtain their certification requirements on campus rather than an outside salon. The massage therapy department offers massages to the public, students, and staff for their degree requirements. The culinary arts department has a full kitchen on campus to practice and caters to campus events on occasion. Needless to say the academic programs are awesome! The social scene is basically nonexistent because the bulk of the students attending are working parents and adults. While some on campus activities (luncheons, award ceremonies, ect.) are available not all are able to attend due to their work schedules and the times these events are offered. There are no hosted dances or group building field trips offered on campus (bowling, zip lining, hiking, ect.). Students all live off campus, dorms are not available. There are no clubs for students to join through the college.

The recent change in structure to the IT department (one IT personnel in charge of 3 campuses instead of one) has definately played a role in technical problems not being addressed in a timely fashion. It is not uncommon for supplies to not be available (printer paper/ink, staples in stapler, ect.) in the library when needed. The campus does not offer wireless internet and blocks several appropriate sites from being accessed for research on the campus computers. Personal computers and printers are necessary for all students to ensure that assignments can be submitted on time in the event they are unable to print their assignments in the library. The recent downsize in available computer labs (shutting down LSU) has made it more difficult to access computers when you need them. The library itself is never quite (staff talking loudly to one another, students on cell phones, or students talking loudly) which leads to multiple distractions and lenghtens the time taken to complete assignments. Can be especially problemsome if taking a quiz or test online. Lastly the network reliability is typically very slow even in nice weather and as I mentioned before with the decrease in IT staff these slowed speed connections are not fixed in a timely fashion.

Virginia college is an excellent career focused college and really works with the schedules of the working adult as well as parents, but will also work with students fresh out of highschool. The classroom set ups are established for a lot of hands on learning in a variety of different degrees. From a learning perspective the college offers a very effective course schedule to help to obtain a degree quicker and get out there in the workforce. Unfortunately this college branch does not have wireless internet access and some websites that are helpful when researching for assignments are blocked on the library computers. The library tends to be very loud when you are working on assignments which causes a lot of distractions. The college does not have a cafeteria and several students do not have transportation to drive to local fast food restaurants. While they do offer vending machines, drink machines, and have food catered on certain days of the week these can only be obtained if you carry cash. The option to use a debit or credit card would be helpful. Lastly the constant change in tuition also proves to be a problem as it can cause some students to no longer be eligible for full time courseload due to lack of fafsa funds after each increase in tuition. Overall the faculty and classes are great, just a few minor adjustments in the areas I listed above would prove to greatly increase the value of the college and make students want to recommend it to their friends and family.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
