Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most VCU students agree that if you want to find people using drugs, you have to go looking for them. That’s not to say that a drug scene doesn’t exist—it just isn’t highly visible on campus. If you consider alcohol a drug, it would be the drug of choice for most students on campus. Smoking pot also occurs frequently at parties. Because of the strong smell, students can tell if pot is being used and make a decision to stay or leave the party. VCU police work closely with Richmond City Police so that, if a student is caught, it will likely affect their school record and possibly result in a criminal record.

VCU understands that students may take part in underage drinking and illegal drug use but encourages students to make the right decisions. VCU states in their alcohol and drug policy that the University is committed to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of its students and the public. They offer substance abuse programs for students who think they may have a problem and counselors for students to talk to when needed.

VCU Drug Safety

There is a very strong police presence at VCU, and I have never been involved in a situation that was dangerous or uncomfortable pertaining to drugs or alcohol.

Drinking Is the Common Choice

Drugs at Virginia Commonwealth University are not present. If people are doing drugs,it's smoking weed. More people tend to drink more than do drugs.

Drinking Is Prevalent Just Like Any Other School

The drug scene isn't too large. Most students just drink and a few of them smoke, but you would never be able to tell that they do back it isnt advertised.
