Services Available

  • Alumni may take one free online course from Tech each year or multiple classes for a fee. Currently, Tech offers 79 online courses available for alumni. These courses fall under a number of subjects, including architecture, engineering, and computing.
  • Career Assistance: Virginia Tech Alumni can get resumé help, self-assessment tests, and career information from Career Services. Career Services is open Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and they can be reached at (540) 231-6241.

Major Events

  • Homecoming: Departments within the University invite their alumni back to visit and go to the homecoming football game.
  • Reunions: Past graduating classes return to Tech to meet up with old friends, visit the campus, and sometimes enjoy a football game.

Publications

  • The Alumni Association News comes out twice a year in the spring and the fall. Articles include homecoming and reunion information, a list of alumni board members, alumni updates, and more.
  • The Alumni Association Update is a smaller publication released four times a year. This publication has brief paragraphs on alumni, alumni events, and Virginia Tech news. It also lists the football and reunion schedules.
  • The Virginia Tech Magazine, released quarterly and also available online, has a message from the president of the University and information about things that are happening at Virginia Tech. The magazine also prints updates on the lives of Tech alumni.
  • VT NetLetter is a monthly newsletter that alumni can read online or have sent to their e-mail. This publication covers Virginia Tech news, features, and alumni events. Alumni can subscribe for free or check it out online.
