College Prowler Take
With around 20,000 undergrads at Tech, there are bound to be at least a few hotties wandering around campus. But Tech students will tell you that there are a disproportionately large number of good-looking students at Tech, and they’re distributed across academic interests. The engineering departments are definitely dominated by guys, while there are tons of female psychology majors. Luckily, students tend to hang out across majors so the male/female ratio evens out. Most times, Tech students don’t notice the ratio, and there always seems to be plenty of the opposite sex around. While students usually dress casually for class, they make a conscious effort to look their best when going out on the town. You never know who you’ll meet. Students who spend their evening on campus can only hang out in opposite sex rooms till 2 a.m. in most dorms. This rule isn’t very strictly enforced, and roommates usually work out visiting rules between themselves. While students are focused on having a good time, Schiffert Health Center aims to keep everyone safe. The health center sells Trojan condoms for discounted prices and offers discrete STD and HIV testing. Sometimes, it seems like half of the reason for going to class is academics, and the other half is to check people out. Tech students consider their campus to be a pretty attractive one overall. Students make sure that tests and grades don’t limit them from getting out and meeting people. Tech students are generally friendly, especially when talking to a cute classmate.

Being a guy, I guess you could say most of the girls here are hot. Okay, they’re really hot, and they’re usually open to talking. It’s different from high school. They’re more mature, and they actually respond to respect. Nice guys don’t always finish last. |

There are a lot of attractive people here. On parents' weekend, my parents even commented on the fact that we have many, many, many good looking students here.

The guys are shorter than most...
The guys are shorter than most girls would like, and they’re average looking. There are lots of them, however. As for girls, there is a very wide variety. Greek girls seem to be cuter than average, but very similar to one another. |

I like the calmer crowd of girls. Many girls here strike me as trying too hard to be pretty. |

The campus is diverse, so there...
The campus is diverse, so there are plenty of different types that should satisfy anybody’s taste (there are jocks, the brainy type, hippies, thespians, frat boys/sorority girls). Honestly, I think that Tech has some good-looking people —boys and girls. The level of hotness varies, obviously, but there is a ton of the opposite sex to choose from. |
FactsBirth Control Available?
Yes - Schiffert Health Center provides multiple forms of birth control at cheaper prices than local pharmacies. Birth control that is available includes the pill, patch, injection, and ring. Condoms are sold in packs of 24, and cost $5. Female students who have a prescription from their doctors at home can purchase their birth control at the health center, and the health center can prescribe birth control after students go through a contraception class. The morning after pill and pregnancy tests are also available at the health center.
Social Scene
Students at Tech like to get out and meet people, and there are plenty of opportunities to do so. Many times, just going to class can lead to new friends. Working in a group for an assignment can be followed up by hanging out at a party. Most of the clubs at Tech, including the academic ones, have some sort of social component. It's possible to be a loner at Tech, but most students find it easier and more fun to be a part of the social scene.
Hookups or Relationships?
Partying on the weekends and going downtown leads to many hookups. Occasionally, a random hookup even leads to a relationship. There are lots of couples at Tech, but there are probably just as many students who are only looking to hook up.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Since Tech has such a large student body in such a small town, there are all kinds of places to meet hotties. For casual meetings, students play Frisbee or touch football in front of the dorms and talk to people who walk by. Flirting even goes on between students who meet in class. There are lots of local bands that put on shows around Blacksburg, and shows are a great way to meet people with common music tastes. Downtown and parties are definitely popular places to meet people, but you can also find many hotties sweating it out at the gym.
Dress Code
The dress code at Tech is definitely casual. Jeans and a T-shirt are almost a uniform when it comes to dressing for class. Students also wear pajamas, workout clothes, dresses, and suits to class. However, if you're dressed up, you definitely stand out more.
