FactsBest Things
- Hokie football is a fever that you need to catch. The students at Tech bleed orange and maroon, and spirit is incredibly high.
- The professors are great, and Tech has some of the best academic programs in the nation. Virginia Tech’s engineering, natural resources, and architecture programs are all among the top in the nation.
- Students proudly wearing orange and maroon together, and they even think it looks good.
- Campus food is amazing.
- The University is very up-to-date when it comes to technology.
- The people are hot, but friendly.
- There are plenty of internship opportunities.
- Campus is beautiful. The buildings all look like castles, and there are thankfully no moats.
- In the winter there are snowball fights on the Drillfield.
- Because it's a big university, there's always someone new to meet and something new to try.
Worst Things
- Honk, honk, honk. There is no parking to be found anywhere. The University gives out way too many parking passes.
- The wind, not to mention the weather in general, is unpredictable.
- It can sometimes be difficult with classes of 300 or more students to feel like you are getting individual attention from professors.
- Dorms. They’re small, they’re always ridiculously hot, and you can guarantee when the fire alarm goes off it will be either 2 a.m., raining, freezing cold, or, most likely, all of the above.
- Classes are on opposite ends of the campus.
- Everyone liking football is good; everyone driving to football games at the same time is bad. The traffic can be a downright mess.
- Sometimes drinking gets out of control and leads to accidents.
- Getting lunch during the mid-day rush can be tricky.
- Sometimes it's hard to get into all of the classes you want.
- Blacksburg is not a big city.
