Price is cheaper than living on campus

I think the financial aid process here is pretty normal compared to other schools. You fill out the paperwork, you do the FAFSA, you get all your stuff in, and you're golden.

Most of the good sit-down restaurants are in downtown La Crosse, which is not far from Viterbo's campus. Most places are pretty normal in price, nothing outrageously one way or the other, but have awesome food. Buzzard Billy's is a great option for Cajun food or great burgers. The Waterfront is a really nice and classy restaurant that is also very expensive, unless you go during happy hour. During happy hour they have really cheap burgers that are delicious!

There are so many things to do in the La Crosse area if you look for them. It's on the Mississippi River, so there's a beach in town, there is a very nice park right on the river, the downtown area is really cute too; there are so many shops to go in and out of. I like to run or ride my bike around downtown and to Riverside park. There are places to rollerblade, ice skate in the wintertime, and go to movies. In neighboring city, Onalaska, there is a mall and tons of restaurants and stores.

The dorms are pretty decent, but the upperclassmen housing is great. Clare is the newest building on campus, and it is wonderful. Everyone gets their own room, and a bathroom shared with one other. There are not RAs in this building, so we don't have to attend any meetings or anything like that. Living in Clare apartments is a little more expensive than the other buildings, but it's not bad, and it's totally worth it.

To attend Viterbo University in La Crosse, for the Theatre program, is amazing. This program offers a great chance to better yourself for your future your career in theatre, and allows students to explore the different areas of theatre. The professors are very supportive of your ideas on and off stage, who get to know their students on a personal level and relate with them all, also they encourage students to do outside work to better themselves professionally, but they let students know when something has become too much for them. Students typically are employed in the area or even at the school after graduation, because Viterbo and the La Crosse area becomes a home for students and offers great career opportunities.
I personally, enjoyed the idea of theatre design before I got to Viterbo. During high school I designed for shows and loved it, so why not make a career out of it? But when I arrived here and started back up in theatre, I felt burnt out of ideas and was hitting a brick wall. My professors are very supportive though, they constantly reassure me that this happens all of the time, and it is ok to re-evaluate things and to change majors, either within or out of the program.
The program is rigorous, but it prepares students for the career in which you are entering. Students are expected to help with shows, by doing light hangs, building and painting sets, doing run crew, appearing on stage, and working backstage during the show. By being involved in getting the show up and running, it gives students the opportunity to appreciate other jobs, which they might not have known about, or have taken for granted. It is not everyday in a college, that the lead actor in a show, is helping hang lights for his own scene.
Our facilities are constantly being updated, just recently the Weber Center Theatre was built in downtown La Crosse, for Viterbo Theatre use and also for public plays. The community is very supportive of the arts in La Crosse and are very willing to employ, work around and with busy college student schedules to ensure, college education comes first.

The parking can be a nightmare, off campus prices for parking tags are reasonable but on campus are extremely high.

I am not involved in sports, but the facilities are very good at Viterbo. The fields are quite a distance away from the University though.

I have enjoyed living on campus my last 3 years. I would like to look at living off campus as it is very expensive to live on campus. You are forced to be on the food program if you live on campus also. zI think that is wrong when you have a full kitchen in your apartment and have the available to cook, but hyou still are required to pay and be on the food program. Clare Apts. are a very good idea for transitional housing.

Racial diversity is definitely at Viterbo University. I don't notice any issues with it.

Drinking is a very popular activity. Campus is also smoke free. Other drugs are not as popular.
College Sophomore 2013-07-28T23:19:00Z
There are plenty of places to go hang out or grab a bite to eat. There are also plenty of lively places to go for a drink. The university also holds plenty of entertaining events.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
