Most Popular Sports
There used to be one answer to this question: Basketball. However, Jim Grobe has resurrected the football team to some degree, so football games are very popular, too. Right now, both teams are rebuilding a bit, but the Demon Deacon faithful know that it is only a matter of time when both teams will be competing for ACC titles.
Most Overlooked Teams
Wake Forest soccer and field hockey are two of the most consistently overlooked teams. The funny thing is, they are our two programs that are consistently ranked as elite in the country.
School Spirit
School spirit is one of the greatest things about Wake Forest-students love their school. Students at Wake Forest are very proud of their school, both in terms of athletics and academics. Wake Forest crowds at basketball and football games are very enthusiastic, despite a smaller student body.
Getting Tickets
Because of Wake Forest's small size, tickets are fairly easy to come by. Most of the time you can simply show up at the game and get in. This is not the case with UNC and Duke games, where students sometimes camp out overnight to get the best seats possible. Of course, students who are members of the Screamin' Demons student section are guaranteed tickets to all football and basketball games. Another benefit to joining the Screamin' Demons is that students get great discounted packages for away games.
Best Place to Take a Walk
Reynolds Gardens and the cross-country trails are great places to exercise or to just take a stroll.
Did You Know?
- Wake Forest University is the smallest school in the BCS (Bowl Championship Series) Conference for NCAA football.
- The motion picture, "The Fifth Quarter," telling the story of Wake's most successful football season in school history, was filmed on location in the fall of 2008.
