Dining at Wake Forest is pretty good. Although it is assumed that food at college is both terrible and bad for you, this is not the case at Wake. The Fresh Food Company (aka The Pit) offers a wide array of options from Mediterranean food (including hummus) to more traditional Southern fare. Vegetarians and those concerned with healthy options should not be worried, as there are healthy meatless options and a salad bar every day.
Reynolda Hall is also home to the Magnolia Room, which offers a refreshing departure from cafeteria-style dining. The "Mag Room" has real glasses and tablecloths, as well as the best sweet tea on campus. Other dining options include a full Starbucks located in the library and a Subway sandwich shop that is open late. However, the most unique option is Shorty's, a full-service restaurant. Shorty's offers a full menu of appetizers, soups, entrées, and even local beers on tap.
Probably the biggest complaint about dining is that you are forced to buy meal plans in large blocks, and some students find it hard to use all the meals. Nonetheless, dining at Wake Forest is solid all around, and the school is willing to listen to student feedback when making their dining decisions.
