College Prowler Take
The main food court at Wake Forest isn’t too bad. But, while the food’s quality has actually exceeded many students’ expectations over the years, watch out for the bill. You can run your total up and over 10 dollars before you even know what hits you. But there are many options here. Head over to Benson, and get a steak at Shorty’s and watch the game on the big screen. Pan Geos makes several vegetarian pastas and wraps. The information services building has its own food court, as well, including a grill and a deli. The only restaurant, or anything close to one on campus, is the Magnolia Room. A buffet-style establishment featuring a daily rotating menu, the Mag Room is classy enough to guilt you into wearing a clean shirt. Yes, there are actually tablecloths and glasses in this painting-adorned room, a fairly alien concept to most college students. When the weather allows, you can take your food outside and eat on the balcony overlooking scenic south campus, which is not too shabby. However, like everywhere else here, watch the bill early, or be prepared to starve in May.

Did You Know? Many local businesses in the University Parkway area deliver to campus. Papa John’s Pizza, which accepts Deacon Dollars as a method of payment, is always a late-night favorite, delivering well past midnight, as are the many Chinese restaurants in the area.
No one at Wake ever buys silverware. Walk into the Benson Center, grab 50 plastic forks, and just walk out.
