Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Wake Forest rules can be summed up with the following words: "Don't do anything stupid." No one—not campus police, not RAs—is going to bother you unless you are belligerently drunk or passed out. The administration and campus police will tolerate controlled and responsible parties and behavior. People get in trouble when they are being rowdy out in the open. Be safe and discrete, and you will be fine.

Regarding academics, Wake Forest is very strict. A single instance of plagiarism or cheating can result in suspension from school. The Honor Code of the University is something that faculty, students, and administration take very seriously. You do not want to have to go before the Honors and Ethics Council for a violation. Attendance can also be very strict in class, and a lack of it can result in a lower grade. This really depends on the professor and class, but with mostly small classes, it is very obvious when you are not present.

Very Strict

Wake is very strict, especially in regards to alcohol violations. Parties get busted every so often, and the campus police write everyone up, which seems like they're making more work for themselves considering 85% of students drink.

Rigorous

If you are planning to come to Wake prepare yourself for back to back all-nighters, countless test, and homework every night. The students here have nick name the school Work Forest because the amount of effort we put into our class is overwhelming. Even though most of the kids who come here were top of the class at their high school, most learn to be happy with a B or C because the classes here are extremely demanding. I definitely cuts into your social life.

Wake's Very Own Barn

Wake Forest understands that college students party regardless of the punishments or risks associated with alcohol or drugs. Recently, Wake built a large building on campus nicknamed "The Barn". Essentially, it is a club with a DJ booth, stage, dancing floor, multiple beer pong tables, a VIP loft area, and its location eliminates the need to drive.

Visitation Policies

Technically, there are rules regarding visitation (which is no surprise considering Wake Forest's Baptist roots), but this is usually a non-issue, as these rules are rarely enforced. As long as your roommate is OK with visitors, your RA is not going to bother you.

Did You Know?
  • Wake Forest students and professors take the Honor Code of the University very seriously. It is not uncommon for professors to give take-home or unproctored exams.
  • Wake Forest's new drinking policy allows for a warning instead of a punishment if a student is caught drinking underage.
