Wake Forest University is generally conservative-leaning compared to its peers among top universities. However, activism is popular across the political spectrum. Wake Forest has active Democrat, Republican, and Liberation student groups. The administration works hard to bring a broad array of speakers to campus, including John McCain, Hillary Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Joe Biden, Ron Paul, Sandra Day O'Connor, Kenneth Starr, and John Edwards. While students can be apathetic about political issues during non-election years, interests and events spike during an important election race.
With a country club-esque campus, it is no surprise that Wake Forest University is home to many affluent students.
Most Common Religions
Christians make up the largest religious group at Wake Forest. Wake was previously affiliated with the Baptist church, but Roman Catholics actually make up the largest denomination. Despite this, interfaith relations are good, and there are groups of practicing Jewish, Muslim, and Hindu students, among other groups.
Minority Clubs on Campus
There are quite a few student organizations within the Office of Multicultural Affairs, including African and Caribbean Student Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Asian Student Interest Association, Black Student Alliance, Chinese Student and Scholar Association, Delta Sigma Theta, Gay-Straight Student Alliance, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Organization of Latin American Students, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, and Wake International Student Association.
