College Prowler Take
Essentially everyone lives on campus during their first two years at Wake Forest. But a few people, generally seniors, decide to move to one of the numerous apartment complexes right down the road from campus. In general, you can get a better room for slightly less money than you would pay at Wake, but this of course comes at the expense of having to drive back and forth to campus. If being able to walk to class is important to you, then moving off campus is a serious disadvantage. But when comparing the two on a purely financial standpoint, you’ll unquestionably find some better deals off campus. One word of warning, however: for some odd reason, you must request permission from the administration to live off campus. By signing the document and stating your intention to move off campus, you give Residence Life and Housing the right to search your apartment at any time. How this is even legal, I’m not sure. It is regarded as an idle threat, and has never been followed through on, as far as I know. But, it is something to watch out for.

On campus—it is more convenient, plus you will be able to socialize more easily with people of your kind. Beware of the cops if you get off-campus housing and intend to throw parties. |

I lived a mile and a half off campus for two years. There are numerous apartment buildings that students occupy. To name a few, there’s Crowne Oaks (where I lived), North Point, Crowne Park, and the Corners. |

Live off campus junior and senior year. It’s cheaper and nicer than on campus. I do not recommend it for freshmen and sophomores, though. |

I think about 85 percent of students live on campus all four years. Not many students live off campus, but there are several apartment complexes around campus. You will need a car to get to campus. |
