The professors at Wake Forest are impressive, both intellectually and in terms of their diversity. While the vast majority of professors are experts in their field, every now and then, you’ll have a professor with difficulty getting the material across. Even though Wake has an extensive liberal arts requirement, the professors usually keep your attention, even in classes that you have no interest in. |

I don’t think there are any bad dorms on campus; they’re all more than satisfactory. Check out the Residence Life and Housing page on www.wfu.edu, and you can see pictures and get specifics on all the dorms, including the really nice Polo dorms (on-campus apartments for juniors and seniors). You will not be uncomfortable living on campus. |

The food is good, but it definitely shouldn’t be your reason to come here. |

I stayed in Johnson, and it was perfect for what I wanted. The dorms are all pretty much the same for freshmen. You don’t get to choose which one you get in, unless you ask for Johnson. All dorms are coed—each floor has a girls’ wing and a guys’ wing. All the dorms have really nice study lounges on each hall, as well as formal lounges. Each dorm has a laundry room, which is free, and a kitchen. Each hall has a bathroom that all the girls share. Ours had three showers and three toilets, which doesn’t sound like much, but I never had to wait for a shower. |

All the dorms are nice. About 75 percent of students live on campus. Freshmen are put together on south campus. Collins is the louder freshman dorm because it has the most people. Johnson is substance free. You can only choose to live in Johnson. Otherwise, it’s just random placement. As a freshman, you can’t pick your roommate. You fill out a questionnaire, and Wake pairs you up with someone who has similar answers. |

The school isn’t diverse at all, which I don’t like. However, many people are very open-minded, which is great. Every year, the school gets more and more diverse, so the administration is definitely trying to change the lack of diversity issue. |

It’s not very diverse—mainly white and some black. There are very few Hispanics, or Asians. Other minorities are almost non existent. I’m an African American, and although I wish the school was more racially diverse, I don’t find it to be a problem. It’s not very economically diverse either. Most people here are middle- to upper-middle class. |

Most of the campus is Greek. I didn’t rush until my sophomore year, and I’m glad I waited. I had a better feeling of where I belonged. |

The Greek life definitely...
The Greek life definitely dominates the social scene. The only parties are Greek parties. I am in a sorority and most of my friends are as well. Though, I do have independent friends. It’s weird, because at most other schools, it’s not really like this, and being Greek is more of an elitist thing. I’m not really what you’d call a ‘typical’ sorority girl, and no one ever thought I’d join, but it’s more low-key at Wake. Still, it’s a big deal, and most girls rush in the spring. |

Greek life is awesome. I am in a sorority myself, and I would feel lost if I wasn’t involved. Frat parties are huge on Friday nights, and tons of people attend, often creating lines spilling into the street to get in the door. |

At Wake Forest, Greek life seems...
At Wake Forest, Greek life seems like everything. Unless you’re going off campus on a weekend, the only thing to do is go to frat parties. There are no rivalries or anything between the sororities. They all have their stereotypes, though. One is all rich girls, and one is all party girls. You should definitely check it out, but if it’s not your thing, that’s not a problem. I know plenty of girls who are independent and are still into the social scene. It’s a little tougher with guys because the only thing to do on weekends is go to frat parties, and if you’re not in the frat, they won’t give you beer. They give it to the girls for obvious reasons. Six of my closest friends pledged the same fraternity, but I didn’t. I still had a good time being an independent, but I’m seriously considering joining in the fall. |

I know they aren’t very strict on drinking. If you want to drink underage, it’s really easy. |

Let’s put it this way, if you do it carefully and don’t make a scene about it, you probably won’t be caught. |

Parking is not fun. They have large lots, but they’re always full. I commute, so I move my car a lot. If you live on campus and don’t plan to drive on a daily basis,it’s not bad. |

Honestly, there are times I wish I was somewhere else, but I don’t regret it at all. Sometimes, it’s called ‘Work Forest’ because of all the work, but it’s manageable. Work hard, party hard. |

I love Wake Forest. The business school is providing me with a top-notch education, with which I am almost guaranteed a job, the campus is overwhelmingly beautiful, and the athletics, both club and varsity, have made Wake my perfect college choice. Even though its price tag is expensive, Wake is consistently rated as one of the ‘best buys’ of private school education, and I have absolutely no regrets taking out school loans. Thus far, I am convinced that attending Wake Forest has been one of the best choices I’ve ever made. |

I love Wake. I would definitely recommend it if you want a small academic school with a lot of teacher interaction. If you are looking for a party school, go somewhere else. |

I think about half the students...
I think about half the students are Greek. Greek life definitely dominates the party scene on campus. All the good on-campus parties are at the fraternity lounges. Greek life does not rule the social world, though. It’s an extremely diverse social scene, and Greeks are only one of very many groups. In other words, Greek or not, you’ll fit in. |

The guys are great. I have never seen a guy on campus that will not wait five minutes for you to get to a door so they can hold it for you. And of course, they are good- looking! |

The campus is not at all diverse. Mainly white, upper-class Republicans go here. There is a small minority population, but personally, I was hoping for much more diversity than I found at Wake. |

There’s one bar on campus, Shorty’s, and I think they only serve beer. The bars around town are okay. They cater to college kids. |

You can get away with a lot, as long as you don’t flaunt it or act stupid. Don’t get caught with a fake ID. It would be better to borrow a real one. |

There are things that I wish I...
There are things that I wish I knew before I made the decision to come here. I wish I’d known that there was so little diversity, and I wish I’d known how ridiculously hard the academics are in some departments. I also wish I’d known that there isn’t a lot to do in Winston-Salem. I find that everyone is very similar here, and if you want a lot of diversity, it’s not the place to be. But, if you want cultural things to do, and you want to meet different people, you just have to make the effort. I’ve grown to like it a lot. |
