College Prowler Take
Upon arrival at Wake Forest, the temperature should be well into the 80s, at the very worst. Keep in this mind: You’re in the South, and it can get seriously hot. On the other side of the spectrum, remember that you’re not in Miami. You also need to consider bringing a decent winter jacket, since snow isn’t unheard of in February. Expect, on average, two or three days of snow per year but not much in the way of accumulation. Fortunately, you’ll ?nd that the late fall and early spring are pleasant, with relatively rain-free days featuring temperatures that often hover in the 60s. Expect the unexpected here. The weather is erratic, and 20-degree swings in temperature from week to week are all too common, but so are freak thunderstorms. You’ll certainly want to bring plenty of shorts and short-sleeve shirts, along with jeans, khakis, and a light jacket. Rain-resistant gear is a must due to the region’s abundance of rainfall. A winter coat wouldn’t hurt either, in case of a freak extended cold snap. Also, look at the bright side. At Wake, you still get snow days in college, and a half inch is usally enough to do the trick!

The weather is great. I’m from Florida, so I’m used to one season and a lot of heat. It was very nice to see the change of seasons. It gets cold, but it’s not unbearable. |

The weather is pretty moderate. It usually gets colder than it did this winter, and we had a very warm fall and spring. However, it’s never too hot or too cold. You can really tell a difference in each season, though. It’s the best of both worlds, I guess. |

It’s great. The winters are fairly mild. There is some snow though, which is fine. I’m from Chicago, so I’m used to the snow. It gets warm fairly early in the spring. It’s a lot better than Chicago weather. |

Winston-Salem is, in a word, comfortable. It’s a bit on the cooler side because we are near the mountains, but it’s like any other East Coast city. It’s warm, sometimes into the 90s in the summer. It’s gorgeous in the spring and fall—the kinds of days that won’t let you go inside. It’s cold in the winter, with maybe two or three snowfalls. It’s never at any extreme for a long period of time. |
