Although I am concentrating on a PhD degree for counseling psychology, Walden University offers a great selection of different degree plans that are appropriate for students who are seeking education in a different field.
I chose Walden because they do have full online programs and were able to provide me with the ability to gain both my graduate and my doctorate degrees within the same university. It made my enrollment process smooth and easy.
The academic and enrollment advisers are the best I've encountered during my academic career. I could not ask for more.
The only thing that I do not see that would be of value is an online tutoring assistance group to chat with students who are struggling in statistics courses.

There are a lot of nice people who do not have the higher academic skills of APA format and appropriate communication and grammar skills.
I am disappointed that doctoral students are not better prepared to write in a higher scholarly voice.
Student diversity is likely but unknown as the students are all invisible in an online environment.
The politics of some students seems to get in the way of their opening their minds to alternative ideas. There seems to be the same political behaviors in college that there are in general society.

I am not in a place where career services could help me yet. I have many years to go before I can complete my coursework and obtain employment.

The online experience has been positive for most of my time at Walden University. The solid curriculum and improvements in academic quality are all very conducive to a positive academic experience.
Traditional classrooms are stuffy and do not provide the same amount of flexibility that adult learners need in order to maintain their lives around their college world.
The professors seem more willing to work with us in an online format than the brick-and-mortar schools who more likely work with younger college students.
The workload is appropriate for the level of education that I am working toward, with appropriate feedback from the instructors.
Peer-to-peer interaction should be more improved: many students do not get any responses to their posts in the discussion boards which makes them feel as though they are being eliminated from the academic process.

The program was challenging but not unmanageable. I felt that most of the instructors were concerned with their students progression within the program. I liked the curriculum that was offered.

I thoroughly enjoyed attending University of Phoenix Online program. I was able to work at my own pace. My favorite part was the weekly discussion questions. This is where the students interacted with each other and the instructor.

The classes are extremely interesting and some of them are difficult. The advising team is great and teacher interaction is exceptional!

they are ok.. I feel that I did not get the right information when I began and now have to do postgraduate work in order to do what I was told I would be able to do when I graduated. I think the staff need to understand the outcomes better.

Educators do not try to know you, but discriminate and chop apart your writing when that is the only way they even get to know you. I paid a lot of money to this college and now in my last quarter and this final quarter the professors are now telling me that my writing skills are not good. I have never been told this before and do not know what to do to make them happy and give me a good grade on my posts.. At this point, I just want to finish and get out of there. I am looking forward to beginning at Kaplan On-line university in September.

Excllent professors, curriculum. Easy to register for classes, it is all taken care of for me. All I have to do is long in when it is time to start new courses. Work load is too be exptected at the graduat level and the study options are vast. Wish, although, that more options for advanced practice nursing exhisted.

Wonderful learning atmosphere. Tons of interaction and coursework is specific to the field of interest.

I was little skeptical about getting an online degree but after thinking about the freedom I would have, I went for it. I had a feeling the work would not be too easy so I was prepared to work a little harder. However, I realized how much my peers assisted me in each class just by the discussions. In a traditional classroom you are not often communicating with classmates unless it is mandatory; however, through online classes you have no choice but to communicate with your peers which is very helpful.

I am Mental Health Counseling major and although the classes can be very rigorous, they are interesting and relative to my degree. I do not feel as if I am taking classes just for the sake of taking them. I know I am learning the appropriate information in order to became therapist in the state of Tennessee.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
