Tuition & Financial Aid:
Financial aid department is slow. I have no idea why it takes so long for funds to disburse. The term is almost over and then funds disburse. They have no problem taking money away without notice.

The number one topic that stands out to me is that the instructors have been all flexible with me. This is very important because I am a single full time mom working at a full time job. If I needed a little more time with an assignment, they were understandable with my situation.

In the EdD Teacher Leadership program at Walden University, I have been implementing classroom leadership with my students. This program has helped me to grow as a leader in order to be a successful educator.
With each workload of Walden's curriculum, I have continued to be a "critical thinker" as an educator for all students in order to continue to examine the different ways that I can improve my teaching to support all students' goals to be successful learners.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The value of my education is great but the univeristy dropped the ball when they changed from 8 to 12 week format. Finincial aid was lagging and I ended up thousands behind. Had to withdrawl from classes the next semester just to play catch up with the amount not covered by aid.

Campus Resources are so great. You can use the writing center online and they are able to match you up with a writer who can analyze and critique your work. You also have an online library and online database so that you are able to look up articles, books, magazines, internet sources, etc in order to write papers and support your work.

I chose Walden University because it was an online school and very fast-paced without being too overwhelming. You only take two classes every 6 weeks and the classes are just enough information, depending on your major, and I think that is benefit that the classes are frequent yet still on your own time since you do all the reading, studying, note-taking, and assignments and discussions.

The Academics are so great. You have a lot of career fields to choose from and you have a broad range of professors and assistants and teachers that are able to assist you in your studies. The workload is great for online teaching and you really have to apply yourself.

I'm a health science major and my classes are more than what I expected them to be so far. I have been so focused in my major since I was fortunate to have taken classes before at UNCCharlotte in Charlotte, NC which is an actual campus. I was ble to get all of my basic and general education classes out of the way then and now I am strictly in my major. I love it and looking forward to more work in the near future.

There are many programs available at Walden. It's strongest programs seem to be in behavioral sciences, education and administration, as far as I know. The curriculum is constantly being researched and upgraded to improve the quality of the breadth of learning the school is offering you. There are technicians always available 24/7 if you are having problems or have questions about the classroom or school website. The advisors sometimes can conflict on answers to questions about your particular course of study, so you really have to know what questions to ask and be on top of your own course of study. The library is amazing! It is a wealth of resources and there is always someone available to help answer your questions and lead you in the right direction. Professors are in my opinion luck of the draw. Most often, you get professors who answer questions quickly and in detail and are willing to be flexible with your circumstances if you're having a problem getting work in on time. However, I have had a few professors who were very slow to get in touch and by the time they got back to me,the week's assignment was over already and I needed to hand it in whether it was done correctly or not. These professors were the minority though and I think you have that anywhere you go to school. All the professors knew their stuff and are passionate about what they do, so that is very inspiring. Registration is typically very easy and flexible--there have been times I had to do it last minute because I was busy or there were unforseen circumstances, but I have almost never had a problem. The school is extremely enlightened and treats their students like gold when it comes to accommodating diversity and religious needs. There are a plethora of opportunities to do extra course work on top of your regular load if you are looking to widen the breadth of your studies or specialize in a particular area. The school has been amazing about trying to keep tuition costs regular for the last few years, understanding that the economy is bad and times are tough and wanting to encourage people to return to school despite financial issues. The school attracts people from all over the world, particularly who are working and raising families and looking to change careers. The people are fascinating and amazing and I have enjoyed my experience immensely!

I am working on a PhD in Clinical Psychology. I am raising a family and working full time. I can't wait to work on my classes at night after the kids have gone to sleep. The curriculum is very well organized and the school is amazing with finding answers to my questions. They are respectful of my life situation and personal needs, and are always working with me to help me succeed in my studies.

The school is a bit disorganized administratively, but the professors have been very good.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
You do have moments where you pay out of pocket however they work with you and long as pay off before the next quarter then you are fine

The student resource center is in an online environment but it is great! Whether it is financial aid or commencement information the information is listed in full detail. The message system used in the student resource center seems flawless and post responses fast. Very seldom do I have to reach out beyond the student center because such great tols and resources are list at my finger tips.

The network reliability and speed at Walden.edu is good. The reliability of the network is very good while the speed lacks a little. When I log onto the student portal the access is not immediate. Often times it can take up to a minute for all items on the page to load.

My academic adviser was very instrumental in assuring that I received as many transferr credits as possible. Initially I was enrolled in a major that did not accept many of my transfer credits. My adviser took the time to go through each program of study to find the one that would be the best fit for me. This helped to lower my tuition.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I am satisfied with the education that I am getting at this time in my life. Walden has made it very simple to apply for financial aid. The tuition is reasonable for a doctorate program. Understand what your goals are, start early, and take care to pay attention to the amount of money you have borrowed. Scholarships help tremendously!

I'm a psychology major, and my classes are exactly what I expected so far. I haven't had to take any crazy electives that have nothing to do with my area of specialization. In fact, all of the classes I'm taking this quarter are related to my major, which is nice because the material is super interesting to me. The workload for a psychology major here is intensive and practical but not overwhelming.

Mostly, my school consists of working-class people with full-time jobs or families. They often juggle many different roles in addition to being students. While they are happy to socialize and make friends, this is not a priority. They are getting an education so they can seek a different life or career.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
