Advice on Finding a Job/Internship The Director of Career Services in Career Services is indispensable. Get to know him as soon as possible, and get to work on your resume. There are lots of environmental internships provided through the Environmental Leadership Center. Some are local, some are distant, and they focus on some really cool issues. Wilson is a small school, but its name is recognizable around the world. Employers appreciate that WWC grads have committed to the Triad of Academics, Work, and Service, and sometimes students will get called for an interview just because the experiences listed on their resumes are so interesting. Don’t be afraid to think about your career while you’re at Warren Wilson. Talk to the Career Center staff and your professors and look into your options. At the same time, don’t be afraid of being unsure. Some of the best opportunities are completely unexpected. Have a general idea of the path you want to take but be open to changes. You’ll learn a lot at Wilson about yourself and your options, so let yourself change your mind. Often, Warren Wilson graduates tend to seek out jobs that are emotionally worthwhile, like nonprofit work. Students tend to value jobs with intrinsic value, where they feel like they are making a difference in the world and being fulfilled as human beings, rather than high-paid work. Sometimes the two happily happen together.
