Permits can be obtained by everyone except freshmen for a reasonable price for the whole school year. A permit allows students to park in any of the student lots.
College Prowler Take
In 1999, the Warren Wilson Student Caucus made the decision to limit parking to the lots currently in place and to make no further plans to expand the parking. Because of this, parking stickers are limited, and freshmen are not permitted to have vehicles on campus. After your first year, a sticker costs $50 for the whole year, which is incidentally also the price of a ticket for parking without a permit. A decal allows you to park in all student lots on campus. Each lot is closest to a particular dorm complex, so cars are spread out according to where people live, and rarely do you have to walk too far to get to your car. Many students choose not to bring a vehicle to campus for environmental or safety reasons and don’t find it particularly limiting. Most complaints about parking or transportation come from first-year students used to more conventional mobility and unused to carpooling or using a bus system. Eventually you come to understand why we’re okay with giving up a bit of convenience to preserve our beautiful campus.

Be prepared to get Island Fever if...
Be prepared to get Island Fever if you don't have a car. Wilson is already a little bubble, but it's easy to get tired every now and then of on-campus activities that groups and dorms organize. It's helpful to have a car. Period. Freshmen have to take the bus, as first years aren't allow to bring cars. Advice: If you're a freshmen, make some friends with lots of upperclassmen and hope that some of them can help you out when you need rides if they've got cars.

Freshman can not bring a car, unless they talk with the Dean of Students. Parking is fine. The Dust Bowl behind the gym is never really full, and the one by Holden is never full either. More people ride bikes here than drive.

Freshmen can't have cars on campus, but I dont feel stuck here at all because the bus is free with student ID, and my friends and I go into Asheville all the time. I don't think parking is a nightmare, but I will never actually know.

Parking isn’t great, but it could be a lot worse. Students can usually find a decent spot, and there isn’t much complaining from the students about parking. |

If you bring your car, you will have some problems looking for a spot to park, but there always is something. If you don’t have a parking sticker, you will get a ticket from security, and stickers cost $50 a year. |
