The city has a lot to offer. There are multiple bars around the campus and the university offers a cab program to keep students safe. There is always something to do multiple days of the week. For underage students, Washburn offers activities on the campus to keep them busy and meeting new people.

I love the variety Washburn University offers. They always have a lot of different things to choose from and fit the needs of all types of people (different ethnic groups, vegans, vegetarians, etc.). The meal plan wasn't too expensive for what you get either.

Topeka is a big town with many things to do. It is close to fun surrounding cities like Manhattan and Lawrence. Everyone is friendly and it has been easy to meet new people. There are tons of restaurants and shops including a mall. The university is very cultural in offering many different things to all types of students.

There are a lot of dining options in Topeka in a wide range of choices. There are places to eat on the cheap and fine dining, as well as a wide range of chain restaurants. Food choices include American, Chinese, French, Japanese, Mexican, Italian, and more!

There are a few places to utilize a computer on campus, but if you do not get there early, chances of finding one to use are slim to none. Washburn has also implemented a printing fee; they give each student 17 dollars credit and then charge every page you print. Once a student uses up the 17 bucks he/she is charged for their printing.

I am not a member but they did welcome me to meet them and consider joining after I first enrolled. I have also seen them sponsoring numerous events around campus. All in all they seem to be a pretty decent group of students that can help newcomers get oriented or adjusted to the college atmosphere.

There are bus routes that you can find online and see the pickup locations along with times. I have used the bus several times and usually had to arrive on campus an hour early to make it to class.

I really don't use these very often if ever. Drove in from Lawrence and had to be at work or pick up my daughter directly before and after school.

Guys & Girls:
I understand the need for a social life while in school and besides the fact it is more sectioned off in to almost high school "clicks" but I am more concerned about the socialization while the teacher is trying to teach it is bothersome to those who have to pay attention to the material in lectures to pass the class.

The computers are kind of slow, but the main issue is the constant printing issue when people don't know to look at their room number and realize it will be the same on the printer they are trying to use

There are a wide variety of activities to get involved in at Washburn University, but outside of Washburn activities are fairly limited in the city of Topeka. However, there are a wide range of places to see and events to attend in Kansas City which is only an hour drive away.

Health & Safety:
Washburn University has campus police that constantly patrol the campus to ensure the safety of students and staff. I feel very safe on campus. I have been at Washburn for two years, and I have never seen or heard about anything happening on campus to be concerned about.

Guys & Girls:
Because of the diversity at Washburn University students have all different types of looks, interests, and styles. Everyone on campus is friendly and willing to lend a hand when needed. No matter who you are, how you dress, or how old you are you will fit in at Washburn.

The diversity at Washburn University is truly a site to see. Students come from a variety of different backgrounds. I have attended several different colleges and universities, and Washburn is by far my favorite because of its diversity. At Washburn University you will meet students who range in age, ethnicity, religion, and professional goals. Washburn University is a place to network and make lifetime connections with students and staff. I would recommend Washburn University to anyone.

They have computers available just about everywhere on campus which is very convenient for us students.

Student life on campus is very diverse and very active.

I haven't/don't live on campus so the only time I'm there is to go to class.
College Sophomore 2013-07-10T15:25:25Z
It is fairly typical for a college, usually pretty easy to find a parking spot.

I think Washburn has several majors to chose from. They set strict application processes and requirements for acceptance. They are know for their programs which speak for themselves. I haven't heard of graduates having a difficult time finding jobs after graduation. My advice would be to stay on top of requirements, get them done early if you can.
College Junior 2013-07-01T23:52:36Z
Parking is very reasonable. I lived on campus at KU where you had to pay for a permit and got ticketed all the time. The parking at Washburn is free and usually alway a decent parking place even in the winter. Event parking can get tricky.

I have great experience with the professors at Washburn. They are very knowledgeble and approachable. They treat the students like they are people not just a number. The class size is very reasonable. The teachers push their students but in an appropriate manner.

I haven't started the nursing program yet, but my experience as a pre-nursing student has been awesome. The campus staff, teacher included are very helpful and resourceful. The campus is well maintained. I love the small feel of the campus, while it offers all the resources and events of a big univeristy.

Topeka is a great bedroom and back yard community for families. It is struggling with its identity to support a modern university. You really have to work to find things to do and the conservative nature of the town really affects and great night life programming.

I am pleased with my program. I was selected to participate in an International Dual Degree Program to study in Europe for a year as part of my major. That was fantastic. However, if I did not have this opportunity, I probably would have transferred schools. Absent from the program is any focus on broader sociopolitical issues that impact nursing. Additionally, it is not nearly as tough as I thought it would be. The level of difficulty (as well as the level of students) could be raised.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
