Approximate Parking Permit CostGetting a Parking Permit
Student parking permits are free. Priority is given to rising seniors, then juniors, then sophomores, and finally freshmen and commuting first-year students based on the order in which they are received. The College can deny any student a parking permit if they have a number of previous parking tickets or if they have any outstanding parking tickets. Permit applications are available online to upperclassmen from the Office of Protection Services. Permits assign a vehicle to a lot, not to a specific space.
College Prowler Take
Might I recommend keeping $45 dollars handy at all times for the parking tickets you will inevitably receive? Sooner or later everyone ends up parking in a row reserved for faculty, or getting caught in a lot not allowed by your tag, or on the president’s lawn—you know, little things like that. I will admit that freshmen are usually the biggest problem for everyone else when it comes to finding spaces in decent lots. No freshman wants to be stuck parking in Taylor Lot (where they are always assigned) because it is as far from the freshman dorms as you can get. So people will sneak into more convenient lots, shutting out people who are tagged for spaces there, and the whole mess just perpetuates itself.
The security guards must have developed a hawk eye for these lot trespassers, because tickets just fly off their pads and onto windshields. Thankfully, they do allow for appeals to citations, and they are not eager to drain what precious few funds we have available. If you live in the Row, good luck keeping a spot in the Tech Center Lot. While it isn’t impossible, someone always seems to come in right after you leave and take your space. Be careful not to drift into the faculty-only rows, too, or else you’ll have a nice paper addition to your wiper blades. I guess the free permits are offset by the ticket fines over the course of the year.

Freshmen .. Way Over There
B+
Each class has their own separate parking lot which does make it more conveinient. Even with the freshmen being the lowest on the food chain, the parking lot is fairly close to each of the main buildings.

In some lots, a difference of only one space could mean the difference between getting a ticket and not. It makes very little sense. |

For some reason, the Taylor lots...
For some reason, the Taylor lots are divided into two sections, despite the fact that they are essentially one continuous lot. It isn’t clear that they are supposed to be two entirely separate lots, and that’s caused me about $45 in tickets. |

Unless you live way out on...
Unless you live way out on Chestnut Street, it really doesn’t make a whole lot of difference where you get assigned. It’s not like you’re ever more than a five-minute walk from your car at the worst. |

Your parking situation really...
Your parking situation really depends on your year. Upperclassmen are generally given tags to park in most of the lots, while underclassmen are restricted to the lots way at the south end of campus. |
