Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

It’s always nice to venture off campus to find a more exotic, romantic, or classy atmosphere for dining. Fortunately, St. Louis offers a wide variety of cuisine, from Thai and Vietnamese, to Jamaican, Brazilian, and German. A number of fine restaurants lie within walking distance of the campus, especially in Clayton (Portabella, Crazy Fish, Miso, and Il Vicino are some student favorites); the University City Loop is popular, as well. More exotic cuisine usually requires a car trip, however. For example, the fabulous India’s Rasoi, which is located in the Central West End, or Yemanja Brasil, nestled deep in mid-town St. Louis on Pestalozzi, are both must-eats, but are not within walking-distance. Affordable, quick meals are certainly available in the nearby Loop area. Everyone who discovers the Middle Eastern flavors of Cunetto’s Gyro House and Al Tarboush becomes a regular customer. And Brandt’s and Addi’s offer more refined dining, for a date or for dinner with visiting relatives, all just a few blocks from campus. In all, with some looking, diners will find that almost every range of price, flavor, and atmosphere imaginable exists among St. Louis restaurants.

Varied and Quality

The university is situated next to the Delmar Loop, which has been named one of the best streets in America (although how they determined that is beyond me). This lets students choose from a huge selection of restaurants. For those whose tastes are a bit classier, the Central West End is only a quick train ride away, and boasts numerous very nice sit-down restaurants.

Perfect Atmosphere for College Students

A stone's throw away from campus is the U-City Loop, which has tons of casual dining restaurants, from national chains such as Chipotle to unique ethnic spots, like Ranoush, and a great St. Louis frozen yogurt shop called FroYo. In addition, the Clayton is quite upscale, so there are tons of nicer restaurants for a different dining experience.

If You're up for It...

you'll find it. there are many restaurants near campus, including obama's allegedly favorite pizza place (pi pizza) just 10 minutes walking distance from campus. The loop is full of different cuisine to choose from (ranging from american to thai to japanese to chinese) and if you have a car, more options such as indian mexican korean etc are available. take the bus to brentwood (rides are free) for organic shops or department store food courts. the cheesecake factory (they sell tons more than just dessert) is a good bet in the area.

The Anheuser-Busch brewing company (maker of Budweiser, Busch, and Bud Light), which is based in St. Louis, offers daily tours of its historic brewery, complete with beer tasting, for visitors 21-and-over. Anheuser-Busch is also a proud sponsor of Wash U, and the main law school building is named Anheuser-Busch Hall. Let’s just hope that these future attorneys don’t drink on the job.
