When asked, the average student at Wayne State University doesn’t know anything about a drug scene. The closest thing to a “drug scene” here is cigarettes and alcohol. Yes, undoubtedly, someone will have a joint stashed away, but there is not major selling or the use of illegal drugs on campus. As for cigarettes, many people can be seen smoking, but the University is trying to become a smoke-free environment altogether. There is some alcohol on campus in the dorms, just like any other campus, but it is not a lot. WSU's drug scene is pretty much nonexistent because of hefty fines, and the campus police tend to strictly enforce the laws.
Off campus is another story. It is downtown Detroit; there are always a few people who know the drug scene very well. Yes, someone may ask if you are interested, but no one will be pushy about it. Wayne State University police officers also patrol the surrounding areas of campus, and they try to enforce the law even with non-students, faculty, or staff members.
