Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The campus is located in the heart of Detroit, so there will be buildings and cement all around you. However, the campus is landscaped to include grassy areas and trees to help make it more aesthetically pleasing. One building has a moat around it, and there is something similar to a Japanese water garden between two other buildings where many go to relax. Sculptures are located all around campus for that artsy feel. The campus is well maintained, and there are always maintenance workers all over the place. Some of the buildings have recently been renovated, and there is talk about renovating more.

In the student center, you will find fast food favorites, along with a little café and Barnes and Nibbles that carries “pit stop” items. Also in the student center, there are TVs upstairs, as well as in the basement. Also in the basement are pool tables and DDR to keep students entertained between classes. The athletic center has been renovated with new machines and a weight room. There are even masseuses on staff! The Undergraduate Library is the main library on campus, but many prefer Purdy/Kresge if they’re looking for a place to intensely study. There are almost always computers available in either of these libraries. If you are bored between classes and you haven’t explored enough, the Detroit Institute of Arts is across the street, and there many other activities on campus and cultural venues nearby.
