Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Greek life exists at Wayne State University, but it’s not a primary focus. The only times that you really see a Greek organization doing something on campus is during freshman orientation and the lighting of the holiday tree. The organizations do have their own events, but they are not very well publicized to the general student body. The main fraternity on campus often has parties but you won’t hear about them unless you have a connection with someone in the Greek system, and even then they’re pretty quiet. As far as housing, the fraternities have houses, but the sororities do not.

If you’re in the Greek system, it’s not that big of a deal. You will meet more people, but the rest of the campus population doesn’t think you’re better or worse for it. People on campus don’t really seem to care about the cliques or being “popular;” they’re here to get an education.

Greek Life at WSU Is Not the Only Life

Greek life meshes very well with the very different groups that are active on campus. The Greeks throw parties, which is great for a campus that has mostly commuters, but they are by no means the only people to throw parties. It is not ostracizing and it is common for those wearing letters to engage with non-lettered students regularly.

Greek Life!!!

I love the divine 9 on my campus! They run the campus and insure that the people around the area are actively involved in promoting the community. The other greeks are cool too.
