Diversity

Wayne State University campus is very diverse in all backgrounds. The students and most of the faculty are friendly and understanding with each person social background. If you like urban living then I would recommend this University.

Financial Aid

I had trouble with financial aid my first year. I wasn't sure what all I needed to apply for FASFA and just had a lot of trouble getting it all together. My tip is to start early and try and complete financial aid asap and make sure you ask someone what all you need and if you are missing any paperwork.

Living on Campus

I love living on campus. I do not have to worry about traffic or being late to classes. Everything I need it in walking distance, restaurants, bookstore, health clinic, grocery store, etc. People here are very nice and helpful. The cost, in my opinion, for dorms, is a little high, but I have never compared to anyone else so I could be wrong.

Diversity

Wayne State is very diverse. There are many different majors and many different types of people. We are in the heart of Midtown, and it is wonderful to be part of a rebirth of such a great city.

Wayne State

We are located in an very busy urban downtown area that has a lot fine art institutes, opera houses, Theatres, Coney Islands,Hockey town for the Detroit Red Wings, and Comerica Park for our baseball team the Detroit Tigers.

The City Life

What sets this school apart is its location in the heart of downtown detroit. Its a very diverse school with many great Opportunities. I highly suggest the great med programs this school offers

just like any other school, our athletes work hard everyday.

Frat: Pikes

Sorority: Delta Zeta

These are the most popular. The Pikes have some great parties, and I believe they are the only ones with a house (on Cass Avenue).

Diversity

There is a great deal of diversity on our campus. Not only with the people, but with the food selection and the different types of student organizations that we have. Although it is 50% white.

Cultural and Active

The students are cultural with different beliefs. The students are active when it comes to student aid. Not too long ago, the students were marching on campus, asking the governor not to discontinue the Michigan Tuition Grant. Wayne State is a proud participant of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (breast cancer walk/marathon). There are other active activities, but it's too much to list.

Dining.

There have plenty of restaurants in the Wayne State area. During the summer, there is the Wayne State Eastern Market every Wednesday that sells organic food and drinks. The market is also open to local residents.

Cultural and Others

Wayne State University is the main university for government research with a lot of information about government policy and elected officials in its Urban Affairs Library Archives. Since I'm a Government major, Wayne State is the perfect place to do policy research. Wayne State is cultural because it is located near the Detroit Cultural Centers. The students have a cultural type of mind.

The Centers

The facilities at Wayne State are really great. There are a lot of courts on campus for basketball, volleyball, and weightlifting. The student center is open to the public on the first floor with the restaurant. It also has a game room and study hall, which is great. The libraries are great because they supply everything we need in terms of books, tutoring, and computers.

Punishmets Can Be Severe

Wayne State Security does a good job of patrolling the school and keeping everything in shape. If you feel the need to do something questionable, do so off campus. It's not worth endangering your academic well-being.

Gyms Are Amazing

They gym is wonderful. There is even a room for women to work out. Perfect. I feel completely comfortable going to the gym, and it is an amazing experience.

Diversity

Wayne State is an extremely diverse university. Though people do segregate themselves when it comes to close friends, everyone seems to get along just fine.

Parking at Wayne State Is Awful

Parking pass costs are high and you still can't even get that great of a spot/location near your classes. Parking on the street is obviously more convenient but then you get a parking ticket when you're stuck in class and can't feed the meter. It sucks! As students of the school, we should be allowed to park on the street and not get ticketed for it; it's not our fault the school charges outrageous amounts of money for parking passes.

The WSU Students

A lot of my friends attend Wayne State with me and we love all the activities. From hanging at the food court to playing sports to partying it up. Everyone knows how to have fun at this campus.

So Many Are Diverse.

The WSU campus has many diverse students. Although the school is located in Detroit and it's voted one the most dangerous cities in the US, I feel that most people are very accepting.

Parking Sucks!!!

Parking to begin with is difficult. You have to get to campus at the crack of dawn to find free parking. Parking structures are always full and expensive, and if you park on the street it is a sure thing you will get a ticket.

Libraries

The Undergraduate Library generally has the environment more of a cafeteria than a library. People seem to be just hanging out, talking, eating, listening to music, etc. The only thing this library is good for is when you need a place to pull an all-nighter. There is an area on the first floor that is open 24 hours a day during the traditional school year. The Science & Engineering and the Purdy/Kresge libraries are much better options for quiet studying. There are even rooms that may be used for group study.

About the Financial Aid

My first experience with financial aid at Wayne State was decent, but the financial aid didn't cover 10 percent of my award package. Make sure you call and make sure everything is good with your financial aid and make appointments when needed.

The Library

I always go to the library if I need to get on the Internet and print something. One thing I didn't like is that we have to pay 10 cents per sheet to print.
