Transportation is frustrating because, while it's easy to get to Boston, you need a car to get to the grocery store. Some students feel trapped in the Wellesley bubble, though there are several buses that service the campus. The Exchange and Senate buses transport students to MIT and Harvard, but most students say they can be unreliable. The Commuter Rail and the T in Boston are more reliable but also cost more. The Escort Van runs in the evenings to transport students around on campus.
While transportation within Wellesley is often unreliable and hard to come by, it is much easier to access from Boston, and the city provides an airport, cabs, and various other methods of transportation. Having a car makes things much easier when it comes to traveling around Wellesley or other cities besides Boston, but dealing with traffic and the on-campus parking issues can be a hassle, too.
