As noted on the school's website, Wesleyan offers undergraduate degrees in 31 major and 26 minor academic programs, creating a diverse curriculum that equips women with knowledge and skills to create their own futures. As a liberal arts college, Wesleyan provides an eclectic foundation designed to challenge a student to her fullest potential and permit her to flourish in all areas of academia. All divisions are considered to be strong assets to the school; yet, certain departments within each group are more substantial than others, including English, psychology, biology, business, and education, just to name a few. As a result of the rising demand for science and business programs, Wesleyan has adjusted its financial distribution in a manner that gives these two divisions a larger concentration of funding. Due to this emphasis, other departments like foreign languages, art, and physics lack sufficient resources, therefore, being weaker in overall quality and potential. That being said, however, those departments persevere around necessity and develop rigorous courses that benefit students majoring in those areas.
Although a few qualities of academia are not up to standard, Wesleyan’s reputation remains justified through the dedication of faculty members. Every professor has high expectations of his or her students and teaches the subjects with unparalleled excellence and enthusiasm. Even if they do not always follow the syllabus word for word, the professors are one of Wesleyan’s greatest treasures.
