Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

When you first come to Wesleyan, you might be seduced by the frat lifestyle—you'll go to a frat on your first night out, drink out of a keg, and say to yourself: "Ah, so THIS is college." Well, it may be "college," but it's not really "Wesleyan." Many people never go back after that first time during orientation; it's just not how most Wes kids roll. That being said, the frats are there if you want them, and there are always events going on on the weekends that are open to everyone.

The more "bro"-like frats will host parties and the occasional concert, and Eclectic ("hipster" program house, open to men and women) throws mad concerts all of the time. The newly formed "RhoEp" (Rho Epsilon Pi), Wesleyan's only sorority, is mostly still in its formative stages and does not have a house yet, but it still collaborates with the frats for events. While Greek life is certainly mocked by non-Greeks on a regular basis, there is no real animosity between them and the rest of campus, and they can definitely be the source of a good time if that's your thing.

Greek life doesnt matter at Wes. If your looking for it dont come here. Really no perks to being in a frat. About 2 percent of student body is in one. Houses are run down and guys in them are really grungy

Extremely non-intrusive. They definitely throw good parties, but there is no pressure to join Greek life. Greek students can sometimes be stereotyped, but the typical frat bro at Wesleyan is no different from any other student--they go to their philosophy class and debate the social construct of political correctness just like everyone else.
