There are a few scholarships that West Liberty offers but a majority are based on grades or if your parent was an alumni.

The Basketball team here is the most popular athletic team. They have been in the final 4 for championships and were #1 in the state.

It is remote, the university is like a thriving town set apart from the rest of the world with its own society. Everybody respects one another, even if they have never met you. People go out of their way to make things easier for you.

The architecture of the buildings is truly stunning and modern. There are flat screens everywhere, along with ping pong tables, pool tables, vending machines, racket ball courts, fitness centers, and many other things.

West Virginia is known for it's natural scenery and national parks. Everyone's friendly and its only a short drive away to get to the highlands.

Dominio's is a 45 second drive away. There are also restaurants on campus such as Subway, Pizza Hut, The Sky Ranch, Jazz-man's, and Taco Bell. They are extremely convenient since I can walk to all of these places from my dorm in under a minute. You can even use your meal plan with these place, excluding subway.

There isn't much parking. For as many people that go there we need more parking.

I love the food and the people that serve you. The people that serve you are kind and know how to keep the place clean.

The school itself holds many clubs and functions such as blacklight parties, but if you're looking for drugs or alcohol, it's the same as any other college. There is a ban on alcohol and smoking, but there's always a party going on somewhere.
College Freshman 2013-08-16T03:13:30Z
Drugs are never really a problem. Some people partake and if you don't, that's fine, too.

There is ample parking at the university. I drive to school every day and I never had a problem with finding a spot

I am a psychology major and I love WLU's psych program! The teachers are passionate about the field and they properly prepare us for graduate school. (Although the WLU does not offer psychology/counseling past a bachelor's degree.) I am planning on going to grad school for counseling, so I will have to transfer, but the undergrad program is excellent. I am not concerned about finding a career in the field and I do not know what career services they offer.

I would say that the school is average to somewhat relaxed about rules. it just depends on which rules you are looking at. Most teachers are very laid back and have easy to follow rules. The campus police hand out tickets for parking violations very often. I haven't lived in the dorms so I really can't say how strict they are in that sense.

There aren't any campus transportation programs that I know of nor do I think that there are any nearby taxi's or buses

Guys & Girls:
It's a small semi-rural area so there isn't a huge variety in people, but I wouldn't say that everyone is the same

Health & Safety:
I feel very safe on campus. Nothing dangerous has happened, to my knowledge, during my time at the university. My one complaint is that Campus PD spends as much time writing petty parking tickets as they do "protecting" the students.

The road (Route 88) gets VERY dangerous with snow. Classes rarely get delayed and almost never get cancelled. It isn't bad for those who live on campus, but it is pretty bad for commuters.

Exceptional staff that are well versed and happy to do their jobs.
Some of the best staff and people I have encountered in college.
College Sophomore 2013-05-17T00:48:53Z
campus hosing isn't that bad on campus, there should be coed housing i think, even though most students commute.
College Sophomore 2013-05-17T00:47:28Z
School was not once cancelled the entire year of Fall 2012-2013 even with inches of snow, multiple car wrecks on the 30 minute drive into west liberty as well as a lot of wrecks on campus as well, very unsafe.
College Sophomore 2013-05-17T00:44:25Z
our basketball team did make it very far this year, though besides that no one really pays much attention to sports on campus.
College Sophomore 2013-05-17T00:43:42Z
A lot of the teachers seem to not have much experience, the school in general is very similar to high school.
College Junior 2013-04-25T01:22:39Z
There aren't many computers available on campus for use. Basically, if you don't have a computer, you're screwed. The university does offer a laptop program for first year students, but typically they aren't the best.
College Junior 2013-04-25T01:16:07Z
The drug scene at WLU all depends on who you hang out with. If you attend parties where alcohol is involved you are likely to see drug use as well, but if you're not into that kind of thing it's very rare that you'll witness any kind of drug use.
College Junior 2013-03-18T18:18:02Z
There isn't any school transportation that I know of and public transportation doesn't really come through here either. Pretty rural.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
