College Prowler Take

Most cadets are not satisfied with the nightlife, but the majority of them did not expect much of a nightlife scene, either. On post, there are limited opportunities for cadets to unwind. Upperclass cadets can go to the Firstie Club, and any cadet can go to Ike Hall to catch a movie or see a performance. As for dance clubs, they don’t exist in Highland Falls. The bars are equally limited in their selection. Most cadets don’t seem too interested in mingling with the locals, either. There is a little hope, though.

For cadets who desire nightlife, they have one of four options: Newburgh, New Paltz, Poughkeepsie, or New York City. And, of course, students can always visit other universities to see what normal college nightlife is like. But beyond that, there are a couple of small, hick bars just outside the gate. Besides that, there is nothing. Don’t go to West Point for the nightlife. You will be sorely disappointed.

For most cadets, there is no such thing as a life let alone a nightlife. There are no bars or clubs or anything like that here. But, the strange thing is that you don’t even notice it. You are too busy to even think about it.

I guess that you could go to some of the bars in Highland Falls, right outside the main gate. But you are definitely not going to find anybody you want to hook up with.

In the past, West Point has brought in girls from other local colleges to mingle with cadets. The problem is that most of these girls are cheese hogs.

If you want nightlife, you go to the city. New York City is just a 45-minute drive from West Point. In New York City, you can find all the nightlife that you want and then some. A lot of the places offer reduced rates or free admission to cadets. If you do some research, you will find that there are a lot of opportunities available to cadets. For example, several cadets have gotten into baseball games for free.
