College Prowler Take
The facilities on campus truly are state-of-the-art and play a pivotal role in the lives of the students. The best facilities on campus are the Mountainlair and the Student Rec Center. The Mountainlair is truly the definition of a student union, as it has many facets that bring students together. Inside, students can find a food court, bowling alley, pool hall, video arcade, movie theater, and a radio station. There is also a large study area and a wireless hotspot for students that wish to use the building to study. The Rec Center is only a few years old. It offers three new weight rooms, an exercise machine room, five basketball courts, a volleyball court, a badminton court, racquetball and squash, ping pong, swimming, and a rock-climbing wall. Admittance is paid for with a small student fee, and the Rec Center has become one of the most popular places on campus. WVU has so many great resources that students don’t need to travel more than 10 minutes to find anything they need. There are several small convenience stores around campus that can provide students with things they need spur of the moment. Being that the campus is a huge part of town, there isn’t really anything that either the campus or town lacks because they are joined together. There are plenty of things to do such as movie theaters and bowling alleys, and bars, shops, and restaurants all within walking distance of either campus. WVU is truly located in a college town, and students can always find everything they need. Students Speak Out

The library and recreation center...
The library and recreation center are both very nice. The student center has a nice little food court, although the vegetarian options there are rather limited.

The facilities are really great....
The facilities are really great. The rec center gets tons of great reviews---it's huge and very up-to-date. There's also a lot of group classes that are a lot of fun. The library has a lot of computers and study areas, and we have a coffee shop now. The Mountainlair (student center) has great food and lots of seating. The bookstore even has a Starbucks now, which is wonderful.

The Mountainlair is in the center of the Downtown campus. It has a food court, huge study area, coffee shop, convenience store, post office, copy center, lost and found, table tennis, a video arcade, a bowling alley, and a pool hall. It’s also home to Gluck Theatre and the campus radio station U92. |

The Rec Center is one of the best I have ever seen. The library is also really nice. They kept the original Evansdale Library from when it was first built and added onto it in 2000. |

Favorite Things To Do
The bars and clubs are where most college kids can be found at night. The Rec Center is also a very popular area for students any time of day. Another favorite student activity is attending all the different athletic events that occur throughout the year.
West Virginia’s campus is filled with different things for students to do. One of the most concentrated areas of activity on campus is the Mountainlair. Students can take a break from work by playing pool or bowling. It’s also a great place to grab a cup of coffee or a quick snack. Students can get work done in the study lounge, too.
Coffeehouse on Campus
- There are many different coffeehouses within a five-minute walk of the Downtown campus, such as the Blue Moose Cafe on High Street or Elizas on the fourth floor of the Downtown Library. These are good places to relax or hear live music.
Bar on Campus
- None, but there are more than 30 bars within a five-minute walk from the Downtown campus on High Street.
Movie Theater on Campus
- The Gluck Theatre in the Mountainlair
Bowling on Campus
- On bottom floor of the Mountainlair. It offers discount rates for students, as well as leagues and intramural bowling during the school semesters.
