Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

It is absolutely evident that Morgantown is a huge college town. Even with a large part of the population being made up of students, Morgantown residents share as much school pride as students do. There is really no separation between students and residents, as they all share the same town, and they all get along together. One of the reasons for such a great atmosphere is the common love students and residents have for West Virginia football. Having no professional sports team in the state, the Mountaineers have brought a great sense of unity to campus. The students are always upbeat, and school spirit is high. It is hard to go throughout the day without hearing a cheer of “Let’s Go Mountaineers!” Students are proud to be at West Virginia, and they aren’t afraid to show it. Students aren’t the only proud ones, as you can see Mountaineer spirit all through town, as well.

In the surrounding town, there is everything that a college student could need. Wal-mart and Kmart are close and offer affordable options for students. Anything a student may need is available such as drug stores, hair care places, and school supplies. Morgantown is also very safe throughout the day and night. There are always police on the streets, whether they are Morgantown police or campus police. The town is well lit, and there is really no unsafe area that students need to avoid. All in all, Morgantown is the perfect place for a college like WVU.

College Town

Theres plenty to do on campus. Located basically on the down town campus is a street of shops, restaurants, bars, and clubs. The closet mall doesn't have very much. This is a college town, everyone comes out for games.

Traffic and Parking

Traffic and parking issues are the main concern for this community. Congestion at peak hours and the lack of affordable parking is unacceptable for commuters.

Downtown is a hotbed of activity most any time. Cultural diversity is widely accepted and patronized.

West Virginia University

Has a good general atmosphere. There's not a lot of attractions or activities outside of campus to do but is in relatively close distance to other cities like Pittsburgh.
