Go Out

As most people know, WVU is a huge party school. There is more than enough to keep you busy on your nights out. Morgantown has several 18+ Nightclubs and even a hookah bar. "Downtown" is the place to be Wednesday through Saturday nights. If you're not into clubs and bars there are always tons of house parties going on. They will typically have a keg (or two or three) and you can drink as much as you want for $5. (More times than not this fee is strictly for guys and girls drink free...unless a girl is the host of the party). Everyone pre-games pretty early before going out so it helps to have a friend who lives off campus. There are a couple busses that run really late, so you don't normally have to worry about driving or catching a cab unless you really want to.

Amazing

wvu is honestly the best. you meet the greatest people, the town is beautiful, professors are helpful, many major options, and the social life aspect is out of this world. the football games and tailgates are so much fun, you will see thousands of people of all ages getting hammered and having the time of their life. the atmosphere of this town is amazing. you will here the "ASS****" "LETS GO! MOUNTAINEERS!" and "EAT S*** PITT" chants all day, everyday, for your entire stay here. there is always something to do (any day/night of the week), classes arent bad, and the expierence is something i will never forget. i wouldnt trade this school for the world. ps. everyone thats visited here that i know of said it was the best time they have ever had and theyve never experienced or heard of any town like morgantown.

Health & Safety

Although I heard from my RA that 66% of the students have an STI, there is a lot of safety and health. Those people were stupid. The condom caravan come around every so often and sells condoms, 5 for a 1$. CRAZY RIGHT. The carruth center is always available for talking to someone or seeking other psychology s***. Ive never been there but they advertise it a lot. I think the first 12 sessions are free for a semester. There is a lot of Drugs but its up to you to stay away or do them responsibly. There is a shit load of cops. at the freshman towers, they oversee everyone who comes in to the dorms after midnight from thursday to saturday. You here about thefts but as long as your smart you have nothing to worry about.

OUT OF STATE KIDS!

So WVU offers a lot of programs like sports and exercise psych that other state schools don't offer. WVU will give you in-state tuition if you can find a program they have that a school in your state doesn't. so look around and try to get intrested in something like that. It will save you soooo much money! also when you send your transcript they automatically look to see what scholarships you can get with your grades. so getting money here is so easy, you just gotta apply!

Transportation at West Virginia University

Works Less in Practice Than in Theory

WVU squeaks out an "A-" for at least trying desperately to meet the transportation needs of its student population. The PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) rail system is a quirky relic, but it's pretty convenient during working hours IF it's running smoothly. The Mountain Line bus service is pretty consistent and operates as well as any other college bus system that I've relied upon. Both mass transit options are free to students. Student's living far from campus may be forced to drive if their apartment complex does not offer a native transportation service, though many do. If you choose to drive (and you're from the South or Midwest), note that steep hills pose a challenge to students who own compact cars--particularly in winter. Morgantown's roads get dicey once snow begins to fall. Ice creates potholes so quickly that the city struggles to find and fill them.

The Tail in One City

You might not meet your wife at WVU, but you're meet plenty of girls that want to have as much fun as you do. There are a wide range of types in Morgantown, though I preferred the native West Virginian coeds when I attended. Most of the smarter ladies tended to be state residents.

Off-Campus Housing at West Virginia University

A Tale of Two Cities

I'll preface this review by admitting that the city of Morgantown grew on me immensely during my West Virginia University experience. The Mountain State setting, beautiful summers, blue collar feel and friendly locals offset much of what I didn't like about WVU's off-campus housing scene. With that said, there are some "student slums" (i.e. Sunnyside) that the University is actively trying to police and improve. But an ever-increasing number of furnished apartment complexes offer clean (albeit, overpriced) living, for those who wish to avoid the "extracurricular" WVU experience that characterizes the city's downtown neighborhoods. Some of the apartments located above the brick, commercial buildings along High Street are steals that offer plenty of space, instant access to WVU's Downtown Campus and the promise of a great time.

The facilities at West Virginia University are really good. The rec centers have everything from weight rooms to pools to a rock climbing wall. Libraries are almost always open and have good resources. Student center is always helpful. Campus activities could use a little work.

Hot Girls Are Easy to Come by

Every single day when I leave for class, I see another girl that blows my mind. I'm from New Jersey, and I have never seen anything like the girls at WVU. They all have personalities too. Many of them like to party also, which is good if you're into that, but if you're not, you still won't have trouble meeting them. Just talk to girls in your classes or join a student organization that you're into. You'll find them quite easily.

Little Different Races

At WVU there are a lot of Indian and white students. I feel everyone here is accepted, although each race seems to have there own hangout spots and places to eat, everyone gets along just fine. I know many people that are homosexual and from teachers I have never seen any type of diversity, they are accepted just like any other student. Sometimes politial or religios beliefs can be a problem but you have to take that into concideration when you sing up for certain classes, know that those conversations may or may not come up. All together I think WVU is very well with making everyone equal and have hardly any diversity amoung the campus.

Fun Time

Morgantown and the WVU Campus offer activities for all people! Their is of course a great nightlife and WVU has a party school reputation. School athletics are also held at upmost importance and for good reasons..LETS GO MOUNTAINEERS! There are also many nature related activites, clubs galore, rec sports leaques, Greek life, honor socities, an active student government, and many, many education opportunities. Overall its a great place to go to school. Also a great place to live and work!

WVU

I know the name West Virginia University carries a conotation of a lot of underage drinking and partying. However although all of this goes on there are plenty of school sanctioned events that are designed to offer an alternative. So there are plenty of parties but i believe that is typical of almost any college campus.

One of a Kind

It's very hard to find a person who wouldn't want to spend their entire life at WVU. Going to this school has opened up many doors and I honestly can say I have had the most fun I will ever have. There is always something to do any night of the week. The school as a whole really enjoys going here and you can see that by the way everyone is kind. The facilities are out of this world, everything is brand new and when something gets old its quickly renovated. The school puts alot of money into their academic building making lecture halls enjoyable to be in. There is no other street in the world like High St. You will have some of the best and worst times of your life on that street.

Nightlife

You will never have a bad time at WVU. Ever. It's easy to drink underage, if you're a girl the parties are free and always welcome to new people. There is no "invite only" parties. There are blocks and blocks of parties, plenty of bars, over 21 and under, and plenty of opportunities for fun. If you are not having a good time here, then you must be doing something very wrong.

WVU is very spread out and has three different sections of the main campus. However, the PRT provides shelter/transportation and the bus stops are very close to the dorms. Weather usually is not an issue.

There is of course the average experimentation of drugs at school, but generally people just drink a LOT and smoke weed on the side. It's not a dominant part of campus life which is great, basically everyone drinks for fun here.

Going to School in the Hub of the Mountain State

WVU is nestled into the small town of Morgantown, WV. Morgatown offers plenty of small town charms like shops and local eateries, and big city entertainment in the form of our many bars and night clubs. Downtown Morgantown also hosts a variety of events for the whole community which students are welcome to engage in like Chocolate Lovers' Day, Brew Ha Ha, and the Holiday Cookie Quest. Morgantown has long since been a cultural center for the state since the university is housed here, and therefore there are plenty of diverse activities to engage in as well. It's also no secret that we have an awesome athletic program, whether you want to play for an intramural or club sport, or just watch the varsities, we've got it. Interactions with locals (being one myself) are generally positive, but some segments of the student population who party a little too hard can be frustrating.

Same Thing Every Week

Although the food is pretty good, it does get annoying to eat the same thing every week. Every once in a while, they will change it up but it's usually something small like changing from fries to green beans. They need to change the soup a little more often and they put way too much sauce on the pizza. But on the other hand, looking back on living in the dorms, I miss having someone cook for me!

When the Street Lights Turn, the Students Come Out to Play

No matter where you look there is always a club, party or nightlife happening in Morgantown. The clubs scenes are available to everyone and the security guards will guard you. Parties line up and down the streets and music is always blasting. If you are not into the party scene, WVU offers WVUp all night which host numerous activities and movies.Transportation is always available for the night owls.
