Student Favorites Rifkin Café

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The dining hall features spacious seating with plenty of room to dine. The cafeteria is just that: cafeteria-style in all-you-can-eat format. The features are: a deli line with made-to-order sandwiches; the grill with different selections (like chicken and hamburgers) featured daily; a vegetarian bar; two hot meal lines, usually one standard fare and one ethnic dish (both are cooked in front of you); a pasta and pizza bar, with the pizzas made fresh in a brick-fired oven; a soup and salad bar; an ice cream station with hand-dipped and soft-serve, and a dessert bar with pies and cookies. That sure is a lot to choose from. Plus, there is also a section with pre-made paninis or wraps, sandwiches, and different types of deli salads. There is also late-night dining, which features a limited menu.

Rifkin Café is a cross between a Starbucks and Panera Bread. Many say the prices aren’t college-student-friendly, but for those on the meal plan, it may not be as noticeable. There are plenty of grab-and-go options for those on the run, but most will opt to have their hot or cold sandwich made to order. There are daily specials as well. Aside from food, there is a wide selection of coffee flavors, smoothies, iced coffees, and pastries. The Deli Cart in Stark is a great place to grab something quick. There are Krispy Kreme donuts, the same pre-made deli sandwiches as Rifkin, salads, bagels, cookies, and candy. Wilkes also recently added an Einstein Bros. Bagels in the University Center on Main.

Not the Best,But Cafe's Make up for It!

Food is not the best, but you can get used to it. They have two cafe's which are really amazing. They have all the best milkshakes and drinks which are healthy and fresh made deli and things of that nature.

Dining at Wilkes

Dining at Wilkes University I think has been very good! A tremendous amount of variety is available. From soups, salads, classic meals to international, sandwiches and pizza. The cafe is a great place to go and be with your friends and eat a meal. Sometimes there may be days that you won't really want what they have, but that's why there is always something you can resort to like a salad or just pizza.

Campus food is, for the most part, lackluster. The dining hall is expensive and is comparable to high-school-cafeteria food with better selection. There is a café in the student center which offers sandwiches and a number of original menu items—all of which are quite delicious—but that too is a little more pricey than it’s worth. There is little available in walking distance to the campus food-wise, so if you’re not going to the dining hall, you’d better be prepared to drive or order-in.
