Wilkes University boasts some pretty decent facilities. But aside from the buildings themselves, the campus is spotless and in the nicer weather, the grass is always freshly manicured, the trees and shrubs are trimmed to perfection, the mulch is fresh, and the flowers are vibrant. This campus is kept up with, that’s for sure. Many people will complain about the smell in the library (we think it is a result of the 1972 Agnes flood that devastated the whole Wyoming Valley). However, the library itself is a large, three-story building with a basement chock-full of materials from journals, magazines, and periodicals to books and microfilm. There are also DVDs and videos to rent. The library staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
The Henry Student Center, erected in 2000, is the hub of campus activity. The third floor houses the cafeteria and catering services, as well as several student service and student club offices. The second floor is home to the mailroom, several meeting rooms, the Leadership Training room, a lounge, the ballroom, and the community service, multicultural affairs, and campus interfaith offices. The second floor lounge area also has a huge atrium, overlooking the lower level. The lower level houses the Rifkin Café, the information desk, student government office, the student development/internship offices, game room (with juke box, foosball, and pool tables), and a little cozy area with a fireplace and couches. The University Center on Main now boasts some indoor athletic practice fields, as well as a ropes course for leadership training. This facility is very impressive.
