If you want it, we got it. From home cooking to national chains, Wilkes-Barre and the surrounding areas have a great selection of dining. There are corner delis and hotdog joints, and everything in between, all the way to fine dining. Most of the dining establishments chain-wise have only opened within the past few years, making us wonder where we used to eat. Chains aside, though, Wilkes-Barre is home to some wonderful family-owned eateries, which sheds some light on the previous question of where we ate before the chains came to town. The restaurant section of the Yellow Pages is twelve pages of
a six-point font listing—meaning that there are hundreds
of choices.

Simply put, finding something that you like to eat is something that can be done at any time of day, and it’s perhaps one of the best things about Wilkes-Barre. The best advice would be to break away from those chains to try the local stuff. You won’t be disappointed.

Restaurants off-campus are pretty diverse. You can choose between Chinese, Thai, Subway, Pizza, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Crown Fried. There are even better restaurants that are only 5 minutes away in a car such as Olive Garden, Chilis, Chinese Buffet, Cracker Barrel, more pizza places, Taco Bell, Ritas and so much more. There is a lot of food to choose from if a student doesn't feel like eating at the unoversity.

Lots to Chose from

Wilkes lies in one of the more "booming" parts of northeastern Pennsylvania. In the surrounding areas, there are many different types of restaurants and snack spots for a student to choose from. It is quite easy for one to walk off of campus and find somewhere to grab a bite to eat since there is a long line of restaurants and diners. The convenience is nice.

Quick Walk Downtown

wilkes is only a few blocks from the downtown area of wilkes barre, there are many restaurants in the area. if you have access to a vehicle there are many fast food places as well. costs for food vary from very affordable to very expensive.
