The first term is always stressful because current students are allowed to register first and incoming students meet the challenge of attempting to register for classes that are already full. The most frustrating challenge I had was trying to contact instructors that might only teach one class at WCU and they didn't have an office on campus. Some aren't so good at returning emails. Once you manage that first trimester schedule the rest is so worth it!!

During my internship, I found that the WCU staff was extremely helpful. The small class sizes allowed for one-on-one conferences and a relationship with my instructor that made asking questions and voicing concerns easy.

I have not lived on campus at Carey in a long time, but they were very strict on alcohol and tobacco use, which I am fine with because the majority of college students are not old enough to drink alcohol anyway. The annoying part was the dorm checks. Dorm visitation policy was ridiculous, though; my boyfriend was NEVER allowed in my dorm--he went to another school and had his own apartment, so we would go there. (We ended up getting married :) )

HORRIBLE. The food is low quality and for someone who is interested in eating as healthy as possible...it is IMpossible to do at Carey. NO organic options and very few vegetarian options. The salad bar is awful. And the only place to get food on campus is in the cafeteria, which has terrible hours.

WCU is very diverse--especially for its size. There are students from Jamaica, several European countries, China, and India. However, the majority of students are a mix of black and white Americans...and that has not always been the case. Only recently (within the last 20 years or so) have the number of black students risen.

We are in the heart of hurricane-land in MS! Our university was shut down for over 2 weeks after Katrina, so when there is an approaching storm, the school takes every precaution...usually by canceling classes!

There is only 1 security guard available at all times, and there are hardly any security cameras. The security guard sits in a booth at the entrance of the school, usually watching movies or talking on the phone.

Guys & Girls:
The campus very diverse. However, some of the students seem to be less sociable. They tend to stick to themselves or who they know. Some students are cliquish. But doesn't bother me to much. I'm a relative talkative person & I talk to everyone.

I don't use the computer lab too often because I use my own computer device. However, I haven't had an issue with the computer labs when I needed to access a computer very quickly. The printing is ridiculous. They have a print card and its almost .20 per sheet. That's insane.

It's a Christian University & there's a mandatory chapel. I don't think it's fair to make everyone attend. I feel like it should be up to the student if they want to attend. It reminds you if being at home with your parents and your parents are making you attend church services.

Great student involvement and support as well as team spirit for a small Christian Institution.

The diversity on the campus is very vast. William Carey has several different ethnic groups attending the university with many different economic backgrounds. Since the college is a Christian based university, religion plays a major role on the university grounds.

The parking situation on William Carey's campus is average. There is no need for a car on the campus because everything on the campus is within walking distance (less than a mile). The permits to have a car on the campus was very affordable that I barely noticed that I was charged a fee for it. When school is in session, the parking situation can get a little hectic but that is expected.

William Carey has two apartment complexes in very close proximity of the school. Although they are in close range of the school, the cost is simply not reasonable for a college student it would just be more affordable to stay on campus. The apartments mentioned above are in gated communities so they are somewhat safe but I would recommend staying on campus getting the "dorm-life".

The campus is small so some classes must be completed on the main campus or off site. The classes usually contain no more than 33 students and professors do not mind small group or even classroom discussions. Most of them are also available to assist you before or after class.

I attend a non traditional campus in which dorms are not offered and students live locally of campus. This question does not really apply to the type of campus I attend.

We don't have any transportation at Carey. We do have a public city bus but safety is an issue.
College Junior 2013-08-05T23:02:15Z
We have great weather. It rains sometimes but most of the time it's sunny.

Health & Safety:
The safety is good at Carey we are a gates university and the gates close at 10:00 pm. We do lack security guard presence on campus. We do not have a health center but there is a hospital right down the street.

I chose not applicable because I attend a Christian private school and parties are strictly forbidden on campus. There are many clubs around the school but safety is a big issue.

There are many various restaurants near my university. Most have student discounts and specials and a nice variety of foods.

I haven't dealt with the financial aid office at this particular school yet. My first semester will be this fall.

Dining is pretty good. I don't give it an A because I'm sure they can do much better, but most food is good.

I wouldn't mention sexual orientation at this school at all unless you wish to be badgered and bullied. Also any religion other than a christian oriented one is not acceptable, as well as this strong liberal political beliefs should be kept to oneself. Really unless you want to keep your mouth firmly closed the entire time you are attending this school, like myself, don't attend it at all.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
